even host file nprotect. the client will check to nprotect server[i can't host this server] again before login page up ,
sure hosts file exist, please check, or create your own.
under your windows or winnt or what so ever, then system32\drivers\etc\hosts
it does exist but there is some people having problem with it why? cuz the DNS client is running and it does not let it read the hosts file (its a bug on some OS) and there is a nother fix xD i will try to post it out.Originally Posted by ken8864
nice guide im testing in my server right now cuze nprotec have toomuch problems when ppl play online
u just started the trend that made mu unplable.
DNS? ok, first of all, check if your machine got virus or spyware, it cause your system unable to read the hosts file, secondly, if you are under a domain controller, and you are sure that is a DNS issue, just have your DNS pointing the IP address as the nprotect server. and you are done!

The client uses DNS to translate 'nprotect.ryl.com.my' to IP address and when you assign the IP to the LoopBack device it'll think you're the host...

basically... most of the problems some people are having is due to some Net providers doesn't allow local DNS caching... so even if u change the host file the Provider will still retrieve the original locaiton.
the way to counter this is to disable DNS updating via the windows services
Local DNS translation (trough OS) doesnt have anything to do with the ISPOriginally Posted by john_d
They are not allowed to change (damage) the OS in such way..
For some reason there are people having Windows XP with the HOSTS file disabled, i never looked really into the problem so i'm not able to tell you the fix..
However there is a workaround! Use the method i explained using a MS LoopBack Device, it'll work
