Running client in virtual machine (server runs on linux), redirector needed?

Hello,
I made a server with MoopleDev (v83) on a Windows pc a while ago. Now I switched to linux as main os instead, but I still want to do maplestory server stuff.
I can get my server to work fine, my problem is running the client. Wine doesn't run my maplestory, so I am trying to use VMWare instead.

So in short my setup is: Server runs on opensuse linux 13.1, client on windows xp sp3 in vmware.
When trying to use my localhost from windows, I always get the server check/server offline message. Is this a problem with the linux host not counting as 'localhost'? Is there a bypass for this or do I need to make a redirector to connect to my server?

I know It's quite the specific question, but I'm not sure where else to ask it, hope anyone can help me!

Edit: I tried the redirector thing with this tutorial from youtube: [TUT] How to make a maple story private server redirector, but this just gives me a HShield Error (0x3000...30)

Edit2: Nvm this bs, I give up, running both server and client in vmware now.
