so what your saying is the client has to be loaded on the server in order for me to run it on my Home-LAN.

Danny I have only two issues One I want to make the server a private Home-LAN server not published on the web second I am waiting on your how to make accounts tutorial

I think there is something wrong with the java install trying to work it out.

The error says:"
Error occurred during initialization of VM
could not reserve enough space for object heap
could not create the Java virtual machine

Server is terminated abnormally"

Server is 3600+ X2 win-xp pro sp2 2 gigs memory 2 gig VM allocated.

Try to edit this line on "startGS.bat, maybe with a lower value should work to you.
EM Default parameters for a basic server.
java -Xms512m -Xmx1536m -ea ...

@ellemen - Did you get the Java Development package? From what I am seeing you might just have the Java user client. This emulator requires Development version.

@aredulaz - Post your "no-ip.config" file info please. + Did you set the password in the network folder/database.properties?

And one more did you set your database password in Navicat -> au_server_ls -> gameservers

I had the same problem as many people with the "Cannot connect to server" message. After doing everything possible--with failed results--I deleted my Aion install and reinstalled from the official launcher. Instant success on my first try after that. (I would suggest this approach to anyone else having the same problem consistently)

One question: How do you adjust the failure/success rate for manastones? At no time on any other server have I failed to socket a manastone (I've played on at least a dozen). On my own server, I can't get 2 stones in the same piece of gear without a failure and I can't find a value for it anywhere (keep in mind I already have custom skills in place with more in the works, so I'm not totally helpless). It isn't that important, just really annoying :/

I have the same problem, and i did everything like the tutorial says.

Check your router. Maybe its your port forward problem. Got this same error but after port forward problem gone. Hope this help.

I have it all correctly, I am trying what VoxAngel says. Downloading and instaling the game again from 0.

I got the new update working. . . If you are having cannot connect to server issues more than likely its an error in the ipconfig.xml file under config/networks. Make sure the proper IP is there. It will be different depending if its an internal (use IP of the server on your lan) or external (use your wan IP) server.


dannybest all I got to say is that this is totally awesome. Any idea when you will get the "Word" spells working for chanter?

I.E. Word of Life, Word of Protection, Word of Inspiration, Word of Wind . . etc. . it seems the spells that are group related don't work.

You didn't correctly install the database, open Navicat and rerun all the .sql files for au_gameserver_gs in Navicat.

I believe it's the "Membership" column. Set it to a 1. Access Level is 2 - GM, 3 - Admin. Though it could be access level 0 - Normal member, 1 - Premium. But I would try membership first.

Thank you, your tutorials are very detailed and well done. I got my aion server up in a hour, compared to world of warcraft ones i've been setting up.

If i may ask, what kind of program do you use to record, and your resolution is 1600xSomething of the files, is there a way to resize them somehow because i have 1280x800 screen and i think most of the people have under 1600x1000, might be wrong.
