Checking your version

Go to your Aion folder and open version.ini. If it says 4.0.0.0 or higher, you will need to downgrade.

Disabling User Account Control

Applies to all Vista and Windows 7 users

User account control is a windows feature that attempts to protect the user by restricting access to specific locations such as Program Files where Aion is most commonly installed. However, besides being more of an annoyance, it also causes many problems with Aion, one of which being preventing this fix from being extracted into your Aion folder. To disable it, go to the following location

Control panels -> Users/User accounts -> User account control (last option)

On Vista, uncheck the box to disable it
On Windows 7, drag the meter all the way down to disable it
Win 8 - Follow the steps here, comments mentioned the visual way no longer disables it, so editing the registry as stated in the guide may be required. The last method is running msconfig -> tools -> Change UAC settings.

Once done, restart your computer

What you need

In order to extract the rar file, you will need a program for handling compressed files such as winrar, winzip, 7zip etc. You can get winrar here

Downgrading

DO NOT delete your bin32 folder or any others, simply overwrite whenever asked.

To downgrade, you will need to download the following file. It will restore the updated files back to the 3.5.0.12 version.

Copy paste the downgrade to your Aion folder. The most common locations are
C:\Program Files\NCSoft\Aion
C:\Program Files (x86)\NCSoft\Aion
Once there, right click it and choose "extract here" and overwrite every file as prompted.

Current bugs

1. Teleporter offers additional map with destinations that cannot be used. An insignificant issue, might look at it later
