So I just finished reading this
    http://forum.ragezone.com/f591/stop-...LCC=2645046691

and was wondering if anyone figured out how to do this properly I have been trying for about 3 hours now to wrap my head around this cause I understand how it could work but I get lost when I try and make sense of it with the files.

any help is welcome and Thank you ahead of time.

You need an external Static IP address ( contact your ISP ), and a router that properly forwards ports. It also must be IOCP compatible. Linksys routers are not, Netgear and Asus routers are. So thats the starting place.

Never heard of that term in networking. I already have a static ip. But my router is another story i am running pfsen on a watchguard firebox 750 so i am unsure if this would support it

You can use your Wan IP. It is definitely working to host a server at home.

These Instructions are wrong. I've never seen a other guy who is using this setup except me.

    You guy's almost done. ALMOST.

Tried it for around 6 hours tried to port forward even dmz to the server and could not get it to start. I even tried to enabled ipv6 support and seemed not to do much either. tried to set the ip to blank lines the server will start but nothing can connect to it even tried to modify my host file to force it to route around this problem with no luck, I am unsure what to enable or try at this point. but I have work again soon so I wont be able to work on this much

so I hex edit the zones to look for ZoneServer0001.txt, ZoneServer0002.txt, ZoneServer0003.txt, and ZoneServer0004.txt. Due to the fact they are all on same pc.

For the ports, best to use the dmz to setup and make sure all things are working. then you can start to port forward after you understand what ports are needed for each.

you will have to change the include statements to be sure they look at the correct files.
remember that (../../folder/file.txt) is back 2 folder, then forward into "folder" and retrieve "file.txt".

the info in the files is old from my test server that I had people playing on while we were building.

And I would like to request some info if anyone has more, I have been out of the server stuff for quite some time but the files released the other day I would like to play with but it seems more info would be needed. if anyone has more info I would greatly appreciate it to get the zone to run.

Thank you and I hope this help you work behind a router. I hear their is another way to setup behind the router too but I don't know it.

Wrong. Your config maybe works. But is the badest way to do that. There is a much easier way to do this.
You not have to hex edit your Zones (except your zones are trash)

I did this well over a year ago and used it on the old files and the newer. How can it be wrong but work? Basically the setup is like that of a server not on the same server. If you had each zone on a different server you wouldn't need to modify the zone. you can also leave the zone alone and inset it in its own folder for each with the 9data folders, but then you have to update each zone for an update. The idea was to run behind a router and yes this works. So I don't see how that makes it wrong.

So you say it's the worst way but I do not see you giving any help. If you have a better way then show it rather then just complain how other people do things. Remember someone trying is better then doing nothing at all. Maybe his fix is not perfect or as good as yours but at least he is helping to the community rather then just saying "I found a way but I wont tell you" :/

    EDIT*
Now after looking at the new config files sent, I see "patch server" and the config in total seems different from my own. Now I will say I was using the older files cause I am not used to the newer ones and wanted to get used to the old ones again before setting foot in a new area. If I am not mistaken my files are the 08 version the original release from c#
