    Basics of the Basics

So first I've been lurking for a while and I'll say I'm not looking for anyone to do anything for me, I'm looking for genuine help.

So I wanted to make a private server that I could play on with a few friends & probably have fun developing as I have a lot of ideas, the problem here is well I have never done something like this before. So after I looked into quite a few guides and began setting up a server about halfway through I realized I had no clue what I was doing and I was only following what the guide said to do, I have no knowledge of SQL or SHN Editing or any of the other things that make up a decent to great developer.

So my question to you guys is, where should I start? Is there a guide anywhere that gets down further into the basics of what SQL is, what SQL does, or do I even use SQL after setting up the server? There's just so much I don't know :s. If there is a guide on this I either overlooked it or didn't look hard enough and if anyone knows of one I would appreciate if you linked it ^_^.

I was following that guide, actually yours I believe ^_^ I came across a error and that's when it hit me that I didn't know much about SQL, but does what you're saying mean understanding how SQL works isn't so important?
I have a decent understanding of the rest, but I just don't know anything about SQL.

Edit: Here's where I probably messed up, I used the old files with the new Odin file guide, some of the links for the Odin files don't work is why I just used the old ones.

Somewhere on that thread someone posted a download link for the download that's broken.

Yes you can get it running tonight ! fiesta server is one of the easiest thing to build nowadays.. for the simple reason that advanced developers already did all the hard work

so if you're willing to , you can "build" the server in 1~3hrs (installation wait included)
