[EU - 2008] How to make your server online?

Hello, I have simple 2008 server files for fiesta, I wanna make it public for my friend and avoid hamachi since it's limited for 5 only. I have a website with many options in my controlpanel. Problem I got is I wanna for example link my register.php to my databases. Locally my codes work, online it won't, guessing cuz my databases aint onilne. I am a noob into all this. I wanna know an easy way to somehow host my sql server 2008 r2 databases in my website or if there's another way(...). Example actually I wanna make is like Falou Online website, it would be very cool, but all alone into this is hard. I know maybe I am asking a lot, I hope someone will be kind enough to guide me through the next steps, I'll appreciate it a lot.

Plz be respectful, I am a nice guy that just wish like many have it's own game online for fun. I am not planing to make money at all with this either. I have good abilities into 3D design, but really sux for programming stuffs and understanding network stuffs. Hope I get clear explanations and thank you if you come help me.

Re: [EU - 2008] How to make your server online?

thx dariel I'll take a look at it :)

    - - - Updated - - -

humm...once more, I'm lost cuz of lack of details...I know how on my router to put portforward settings...in advanced -->portforward

mine looks like this: first columm:name,ip 2nd columm: application name(twice)third columm:
public port, private port, fourth columm: traffic type choices:(tcp, udp, both, other)

In application name not even sure what I should type in or anything will do, ip what ip adress should I put in? myipadress.com ? or ipv4 in my ipconfig cmd or dns ip on noip.com?...I tried so many ip honestly lol...
public ports I am guessing its the one in the config.txt file on your serverfiles...9000 and else...that I must put as ports-->in portforward router settings.
traffic type I am using both, If I am right it should be both.

it is shown like this, in my portforwarding router settings.
I have allow my firewall for thoses ports as well in inbound and outbound.(9000-9125)

I then copy inside my config.txt all the lines to my others config.txt in login zones etc(6services) and leave the last lines where its say including etc...

my hosts file in system32 driver etc...what to put in exactly, do I keep 127.0.01 localhost
::1 localhost I am guessing yes and to add another ip, but which one exactly...

I have noticed on the link you gave me that some ip stay 127.0.01, not sure which ip I should use for the rest, it's really confusing all thoses ip lol

ty for trying to help me, I rlly do appreciate it.

I'm no expert on setting up the files without hamachi. If all you want is to setup for hamachi then I don't think you need 6 different config sheets, you only need one because your hosting it from the same computer. I'm assuming that in the config settings where it says Listening port IpAddress you should be putting your external IP and where it just says IP address put your external IP. The listening addressees are were your clients are going to be connecting to your server so it has to be your public IP. When it comes to port forwarding I believe the IP you want to add is your private IP (Usually something like 192.168.x.x) and the ports the game uses 9000-9127. Other than that I can't help you much sorry :\

Re: [EU - 2008] How to make your server online?

thx Dariel, I moved some steps forward and yes you are right I need only 1 config to do, I used a dns ip from noip site, I am guessing that would be the network ip to use for friends to connect to the game, when I put this ip into the bat file for clients, my friend was able to see the server list, its an awesome step for me already. The problem now for some reasons is, it won't allow him to enter the game right after he see the server list. I'll read your reply again, maybe it will lead me to a mistake I have done. :) ...I am wondering if I am setting my hosts file correctly too.

P.S: did you meant external ip then internal ip or really both are external ip?

    - - - Updated - - -

okay so, some more questions if someone can tell me clearly how to set up theses:

hosts file edit: I know you have to run it as admin, you probably then have to put 127.0.0.1 localhost on the first line
, anything else to edit there?

my friend who is the client let's say and have the client files, does he need to do something more than just run the bat file with my ip network?

ip term's is confusing me except the private ip starting with 192.168. x.x that I guess is your ipv4 also when using ipconfig in cmd. External ip and public ip, aren't them the same ?... if not can it happens to be the same cuz on google it would seem the same ip!?

What IP did you set your login service to? You should set the World and Zones to the same IP. And yes the Public and external IP are the same sorry for being misleading.

The game uses more ports than 9000-9127, 12000+ for instance dung. If you figure how to setup without multi-sheets please share.

Re: [EU - 2008] How to make your server online?

Hi sorry for not replying recently, got busy in real, Lugapha I will sure shared if I succeed, and humm the 12000 ports I am not portforwarding thoses yet since I haven't play with the files to fixed any instances then I don't think I need to config thoses (using simple 2008 fiesta files from youtube walruses link), cuz from what I can see in the ports used in the config file, only see thoses starting from 9000 and mine won't go above 9125, so not even see 9127 port in the config file I am using. Dariel ty for confirming me about the external ip to be same as the public one, for the login ip I am testing many with no much luck yet, I am starting back again today tries and hopefully one day soon I'll get it to work, so far I am like the same guy from the first link you gave me:who was able only to allow someone from distance to see your server list and counld'nt connect to the game. It's sad that many posts end without telling how exactly to succeed some stuffs. I won't be greedy personnaly and I will shared if I get things to work properly, ty for your support guys, keep up searching with me if you can help I will return that if I can too . :)

Re: [EU - 2008] How to make your server online?

I have a server setup the way I made the tutorial, so I know it works and have had people inside and outside the lan on it using just the wan address like a normal server. It was always a issue to do it on 1 sheet and someone before said they got it on 1 sheet but never could explain how. So, in my opinion it never happened.

I don't actually believe it is possible to run the Fiesta server on a wireless router, you need to have a direct connection as far as I am aware. If someone could confirm that would be great.

Re: [EU - 2008] How to make your server online?

In my opinion, a wireless router could possibly work too, but I would less recommend it, because the ethernet cable is way more stable to keep the internet connection. To me, any wireless stuffs eventually loose connection cuz their usually get eventually too much heat, which make the signal drop and loose connection often. Normally a wireless would need some rest but they still connect to the internet so to me, yes its possible but not recommend for a server that you wish to be stable often. Unless its exist now some strong wireless router with some cold accessories or fan that keep the temperature to never increase at some limit.

Well I don't think that's the issue, I'm not totally sure, but last time I tried with a router and it didn't work and I was told that the server isn't compatible with wireless settings, but I'm leaving this thread open to discussion because you may just get it working, good luck!

Re: [EU - 2008] How to make your server online?

When you think about it though, we can connect with 1 sheet using hamachi via distance, so there must be a way logically to do it manually I keep telling myself lol, some routers I read have also better efficacity than else routers to run a game server...maybe that's our main problem, I really can't say, but all routers have their different way for settings.

Re: [EU - 2008] How to make your server online?

well you can't listen at the wan address if your behind a router and you can't tell the client to go to a lan address since both do not exist. That was the issue I found when making the multisheet setup. If in fact I'm misunderstanding what is happening then you are correct and it can be done with 1 but I spent a lot of time do just what you are and was not successful. good luck and hope to see me wrong.

Re: [EU - 2008] How to make your server online?

I tried with multisheet and nothing worked for me either, 1sheet my server work locally at least. With hamachi, distance clients can connect when their joined my hamachi network. I assume that maybe the only way is to create a network and have the client join that same network, but still hoping it's not the only way lol. Otherwise I haven't find me neither how to connect directly the client to your server well not totally yet since as far I could get was allow someone to see my server list...anyway I am repeating myself, but I wanna keep the post alive a bit since I am sure many might wish to eventually solve this problem without hamachi. So on my side I still keep trying (...). About lan and wan ip, its confused me a bit what you saying, lan I read stand for local area network which I believe is supposed to be your 192.168.x.x usually. that is your router no? and wan ip is your wide area which I read somewhere it is your public ip(external ip). So I am not sure what you mean by saying both doesn't exist behind a router?

Since there has been no reply from OP for several days I am closing this topic and assuming the issue has been fixed. If it has not please message me asking to re-open it or make a new thread, thanks.
