I feel like running a server in a virtual environment would be rough on system resources. Anyways, connect through your local network. 192.168.x.x
Re: Fiesta pserver using windows 8
thanks for your help, if I ping the address all pings come back but the fiesta client still won't connect. I made sure that all services are running.

Did you forward the ports for the virtual machine through your router?
Re: Fiesta pserver using windows 8
as far as I know, a network bridge doesn't require port forwarding and the vm interface won't show me an option for port-forwarding (it's shown greyed out)
However I tried reinstalling the client and run into the following error: "_AIL_set_3D_distance_factor@8" not found in DLL [client location]
(I previously just coppied all client files from my old PC)

What are you using for vm? And as xkl said running it through a vm will use up a good amount of ram since you have the option to give it a specific value for it's vram.
Re: Fiesta pserver using windows 8
I'm using VirtualBox as vm and I don't have any problems with RAM, I set it to 4GB and I have 8GB total
Re: Fiesta pserver using windows 8
What's your issue? Connection to the server running off the vm?

If the VM shows up in your connected devices on the router, then forward the ports for that VM. You will also need to allow those ports through the Windows Firewall too.
If you're still having trouble forwarding, then use a VPN. Like Hamachi or something. Shouldn't really matter since this is a test server correct?
