Windows 8? Yea I had the same problem. Just go back to Windows 7 or previous if that's possible.

have you tried changing compatibility? i havent gotten past the manipulation error yet. (i have xp, 7, and 8)
is it just the client on 8 or server or both?
Yeah, I tried that, too. There is no difference between with compatibility mode and without it. :(

Just delete all the databases and restore new fresh one. I had this problem, i did that and i fixed it :)
