[Request] 3DS to working Fiesta Model Tutorial?

Does anyone want to take the job? I meant the model as in totally custom. Not just taking an already excisting weapon and pasting the nodes over.

A detailed guide would be appreciated. I haven't messed around with it yet, and I'm sure it'd take a lot of time to understand it completely.

I also know people don't like to spoonfeed others, but I'll contribute with things eventually, and I'm sure it'll be of use to other people as well.

At one point, animation would also be pretty beast. I know modelling is limited, since particle effects can't be transferred, but I guess we'll just have to deal with that.

    Thanks in advance.

Re: [Request] 3DS to working Fiesta Model Tutorial?

well to make a weapon u NEED to paste w/e u made from scratch into an existing file because of the nodes.
Animations cant be done cuz the stupid gamebryo exporter doesn't support the nif/kf/kfm file version we need for fiesta.
I have gamebryo lightspeed v3.1.1 which is the newest one leaked (not that new anyways) and it still doesnt work.
You can make new stand still weapons, but as far as animations and completely new characters go, its not going to happen unless u get a newer version of gamebryo with a compatible exporter

What about getting someone to code an exporter new exporter that is compatible with those extensions, for 3ds?

However, does it still work though? Like exporting into nifskope and saving it?

ya but its better to just save it as a 3ds or obj and import it in nifskope

exporting it nif wont make the weapon use-able
it will just be the weapon's mesh in nif

but the base question was about making weps from scratch and later maybe animation. and i know in blender you can do animation on items.

all jokes aside, i think he means general knowledge of nif files.
    Not just weapons

Can u export the animations from blender and have them as working nif files that actually work for fiesta?

yes, you can run 1 single animation in fiesta atached to a item. i made a hopping minipet lightbulb a long time ago but screwed up the rotation so i trashed it later.

the structure of a item has 3 layers the have a empty to each and have a logic setting, Near Extend and Far Extend. those are the distant viewings. all the effects are attached to the weps in one group of nodes (or Empty) and the mesh's are atached in another group(normally LODGroup01/noname)the position of the empty is where it is attached.

WUP01 is the empty of the effect location if i remember corect

Yeah, Muno is right. I want general knowledge of how things work.

Interesting stuff Lugapha, but meh, I suck at Blender... I'll look into it.

I tried blender but I can't get the textures to work! I get an error message when I import the .obj file into nifskope and the weapon goes white.

after building it in blender you need to convert your texture to dds files. also be sure you trianglate the models and don't use high poly counts or you will lag players. Best thing to do is find a bunch of tutorials on making game models in blender and practice and don't shortcut.

i never use .obj files, i make models and export to nif's imbeding texture can cause issues sometimes too.

tbh its WAY easier to do the whole stand still mesh thing with texture in 3dsmax. just a few steps and it sets up the texture for u.
Save it as a 3ds or obj then import it to nifskope and just add the texture node to mesh in nif skope

I have tried animations in blender cuz i hate that program with a passion

Re: [Request] 3DS to working Fiesta Model Tutorial?

It's quite easy if you are planning from makeing a weapon from scrach you have to export it in .obj type format 3ds dosent really work that well in {Nif Skope] but if your planing on makeing it in scrach you would have to...

Step one: First make the weapon ie. in like 3ds max

Step Two: Make sure the coordinates are like this in your 3d modeling program.

Step Three: open your existing file and open it in Nifskope with the obj file format

Step Four: put it in a 89o angle so it can congruent.

Step four:copy the brach that has your weapon into ie Rouman sword

Step five: Paste at the end

Step Six:Delete all the stuff that goes with rouman Sword and make sure it is completly lined up with the rouman sword and make sure you make it almost perfect alinement if you can.

Step Seven: You almost done save put your texture and what not then replace the rouman sword in your client files for testing.

    Step eight; your done :)

You can thank me later ^^

ps i know it is a shitty weapon xD

Re: [Request] 3DS to working Fiesta Model Tutorial?

I never really used 3ds much cause of the movment in the 3d space. it just drives me crazy. probably since i was a blender user for so long. Looks like some good tips to creating in 3ds. I spend more time creating maps than i ever did on weps and other stuff. One thing people forget it to uv unwrap things in the begining.
