    Webhost & Common Register/Launcher Issue

    Hey everyone,
I need to know two things. I have a registered domain name for my server, and now I'm wondering, what's the best and more compatible webhost? :/
I need one that supports sqlsrv for a register script and the launcher.
Please reply to this thread as soon as possible.
    Thanks.
    :)

You can use any webhost for what you want to do, it just depends on the version of PHP you decide to use. But it is easier to host it on the dedi, otherwise you'd have to open a remote sql connection to the web host IP or a few other methods. Just use odbc instead of sqlsrv, since sqlsrv is not supported in newer PHP versions.

    http://php.net/manual/en/book.uodbc.php

And to answer your question anyway, I like GoDaddy, they have fast support and easy to set up.

He doesn't need newer PHP Version, he can use version 5.2, it works with sqlsrv.

I have a Godaddy hosting plan, but I'm not sure how to setup the sqlsrv extension/install new php extensions on it.
It's a Windows hosting plan also.

That's why I said he shouldn't get a newer version if he wants to use sqlsrv.

You don't have to install any extensions if you decide to use odbc_connect instead of sqlsrv_connect.

Are you sure you need msql and not mysql?

if msql then go with odbc as above already said.

^ if you use debian vps/dedi.

as host id suggest you ovh.com the prices are very cheap, server very stable and the support is ok. Also they offer an awesome hardware firewall for some server which is free and they can take up to 320~ gbps attacks.

You don't have to install any extensions if you decide to use odbc_connect instead of sqlsrv_connect.
I used odbc_connect, and it still gives me an sqlsrv_connect error

You have to use odbc_exec (preferrably prepare then execute, but start with exec) and so on. Other than that it's pretty much the same.

Changing the functions from sqlsrv to odbc, doesn't mean you only have to change the word, the way of how the code is written will be changed too. So it's almost as you are re-coding the script.

Well yeah, I included a link to the odbc documentation. You don't have to re-write it completely, only a few things need to be changed. The error that will be displayed will give him enough to go on, if not, enough to know what to google.

Re: Webhost & Common Register/Launcher Issue

So Godaddy told me that they don't allow the installation of drivers on their shared host, and I'd rather just find another host that does. Any recommendations?
