Where to start running a Fiesta server?
Hello All.
I have been playing Fiesta and Fiesta private servers since 2007, and I feel like it's time to start messing with my own. I majored in computer science, so I am proficient with computers, and have a strong programming background. My only experience with running a server was making a Maplestory server back when I was a kid, and running in on Hamachi.
I'm mostly wanting to find out where to begin. My goals are to make my own server but not release it, just so I can learn how the files work, and the basics of running and maintaining a Fiesta server. At some point down the road I would like to team with other developers in order to help them with their existing server, or to make a brand new one.
From looking around forums I have gathered that it is best to start with the old 2008 files and mess around with those before going onto things like Odin files, HK, etc.
I know that many of you guys have been active in Fiesta Private servers ever since the first files were released, and have gathered a vast amount of experience. It almost seems as if I am in to late, and that the time to really learn was back when it all started.
Like I previously stated, I have a degree in computer science, so I definitely have the capacity to learn (Not sure if having programming knowledge is beneficial is at all in this area, other that just assuring me that I am capable of leaning new things computer related).
Back when I was a kid and playing Combat Arms, Maplestory, and so on, I was really into game hacks. I made it my goal to make hacks for a game one day. I was instructed that in order to be able to do that, I should learn to program. Now I know how to program, but would like to do something other than pissing off a bunch of people and getting called a hacker. Anyway, I've always had a hobby for "modifying" games. I would just like to be more constructive with it, if you will.
I would highly appreciate any advice on where to start. I hope to one day follow the outline that some of you great Devs have set, and to be a mere shadow of your current talent.

Re: Where to start running a Fiesta server?
- Follow guides to setup a server ( they're everywhere )
- Go through some simple file editing ( Maps, items, mobs, etc)
- Go into more advanced parts ( Kq's, skills )
- Mess around with the different tools out for offer ( Shine Tables, Quest editor, etc )
Thats about it...
