[Suggestion] Availability and suitability of embedable image hosts on RZ. Sticky?

I know we have limited the hosts that we allow images embedded in RZ with, but I don't know what domains where chosen, and if the list is maintained. I do understand the desire to keep certain embedded material off RZ.

Is there a sticky somewhere we can look up free (or non-free) image hosts that we can embed into posts on RZ with [img] tags or similar?

The primary site I used to use was accepted, but are no longer accepting uploads. I have some newer suggestions if anyone is interested?

Only one I know works is ImageShack, and they can be terribly slow sometimes.

Tinypic works well. I'm not sure if imgur works on RZ, but thats one of my favorites.

Oh! Can't ******* redirect to any other site? If that's safe then I can use any of my other preferred sights via *******, which is great for me, but doesn't it present the same security issues as allowing any URL in the first place?

Thanks on the Sig MentaL. I posted it in the Sig section, though I'm no artist... some qualms about the size of download, (big animation) but it's very much a blend of "me" and "RaGEZONE". And I'm no artist, but do work with Video a fair bit, so...

I just find less popular sites get slashdotted less. XD

imageur looks good though. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to read it as "I Midge Ure" or "Immature". But the service looks okay.

yeah same! but since photobucket has changed so much...you need an account and there's a limit for users to upload. Photobucket is pretty stupid and not worth the hassle

Sorry JimJam, I agree with Doraemon. Photobucket is a PITFA, as are flicker & picassaweb and such.

Their fine for photo albums to share on your blog or basefook or DeviantArt portfolio, but not good for screenies and diagrams in tutorials / guides.

In fact DA will host images, and you can embed the final result, but it's not a sensible host for stuff you make small enough to fit on RZ forum posts.

Most of the time I use Tinypic for small images. I tend to use Imageshack for big/wide images nowadays, due to Tinypic resizing those.

Thanks for that. mmorpgwallpaper.com and imagehost.org both seem to be down, or just not accepting any more uploads.

I've bookmarked that thread though... it makes it clear what I should have done to suggest others. And I thanked MentaL at the time he posted it too, Doh!
