    Threads Autolock

    First suggestion was:
You should make this just like once

That rules show before you can post anything and after you readed the rules, you can post, bcuz there is so much bumpers in gunz section o_O

(Well i think this wouldn't solve the problem, but maybe some ppl can't find the rules?)

Second by Justice For All is that Threads would be automatically locked after the 3 weeks or something and i think it's alot better suggestion than mine, so i keep on with it :D

    Re: Rules Forceread

Don't you think people would just scroll down and press the "I HAZ READ IT" button? Putting a timer would be even more useless, as they would just wait until the timer is done than reading the rules..

I know that, that's why i said that it wouldn't maybe solve the problem, but atleast they wouldn't say that they haven't seen the rules.

Add a time limit at the bottom of the page, where you can check the box saying you read and agree to the rules after, say, 30 seconds have passed. If you change tabs, the timer slows/stops. So you have to stay on the page for 30 seconds.

Lol the Gunz section attracts a lot of foreign attention, a good percentage of the section can barely speak English if any at all. I don't think a rules force-read would solve anything they'd still just click I accept and then do whatever they were going to do. But, maybe a function where all threads that haven't had a reply in 3+ months are automatically locked or something would be nice.

Same situation in Ran Online section. There are really lots of people that are new in community boards. But ignorance in the rules excuses no one.

    Re: Threads Autolock

    Ok,
Let us make this simple so people can understand.

    Rules,
The rules are there to keep order and for staff to have a basis of what is and isnt allowed. It is well known that members never read rules or t.o.s. and forcing them to read solves nothing. I would just get a drink and come back 2 minutes later [like ive done on many sites].

The main reason for rules are for staff rather than normal members. So really the question is less what should we do to show the rules and more why the fuck aint the staff doing there job properly if your seeing so many rules being broken.

    ----

    The Threads
It is pointless to close threads after a time period. Some threads contain valuable data and can be lost for some times before some one reads them and replies. As long as the comment is not spam or pointless what is the issue with posting in old threads if the content is still valuable.

A good alternative would be to have a warning on threads older than 4 weeks. Many sites such as Clantemplates and others have this. This would stop people posting in old threads by mistake. Still this then leads to the question if users are reading old threads there must be a lack of new posts in the section. And this simply means again the staff need to find ways to bring more users posting and creating threads.

I don't think it's possible to lock the thread after X days.

Yes it is and it is very easy I've seen it on a shit load of other forums including the same version as these Forums. (Pretty sure they were the same version) Not sure how easy it would be for Dan to do it though even if he wanted to, but there is a warning on Threads older than 365 days maybe lower it to 3 weeks or something.

This is an occasional problem that is easily solved by....

reporting the post. I don't see why every single thread needs to be closed because of the 1% chance it might get bumped by someone who probably doesn't know much English.
