    [Discussion] Flyff Sueing?

I came across this article :

Private server company forced to pay Blizzard $88 million

Shocked me alot, so I visited the gtop100.com site to see if there was any more wow servers and theres one with over 10k people online. Do they have some kind of anti-sue country policy crap lol or are they just dumb?

And could this happen to flyff servers? I dont see why not.. advice would be make sure yours doesnt get most attention like some have, flyff would hit them first.

88 Million dolar fine hurts would you take the risk even for 3 million payout?

Most servers are hosted in the Netherlands where copyright laws are different and private servers technically aren't illegal cause of so.

Hence where the "Most" in my post comes from.

People do host in the US and other places of the world just fine. Most companies normally won't bother you unless you piss them off enough, or try to make money off their game.

And by 'pissing off the company' I mean like when a bunch of Fame people went and spammed dozens of pages of ads in every section of the official forums. Cause that would surely piss them off.

From my understanding point, as long as you don't make your server as a business, there is no way a company can sue you. Selling and donations are 2 different things. Pserver who had the "Add to Cart" most likely is selling their business and for that it goes against copyright. Donations of course is just a choice of actions that a person decides to make.

From reading that topic about that server getting sue is a different story comparing to most pserver. Somehow I just think that pserver did something illegal against Blizzard, that's why Blizzard take actions on them. But beware, anything can be possible because pserver is taking about official's business.

Think of pservsers as a large advertisement for the official server ;)

Because when shit goes wrong with the pservers, people will be addicted tot he game and want to keep playing which means moving to the official server. :3

No, you would have to be registered as a charity to actually accept offical donations otherwise its still classed as a payment

donations in my opinion does not need to be registered as a charity. Charity is another class of donations. Donations are donations, charity is charity. donations does not = charity.

If flyff took a private server to court, the owner could not say or class the payments he got as donations unless his a registered charity. I study law

Lol, great idea to bring this topic up. I personally think.. 'donating' doesn't HAVE to be charity only.. cause that's just weird, but then again most 'doners' do donate to charity.

If people thought about it.. *like I had & possibly 1-2 other people* they wouldn't get sued, as it'd be socially F**KED up. If they even attempted. I don't want to say anymore.

My personal thoughts, the Law can protect you from the Law. I study law as well. =] Just probably not as high level as yours.

Wrong, if gala wants to take private servers down or sue them, they would lose. No host(except maybe ecatel or another shit blackmarket host) is going to host a game getting DMCAs every week.

TECHNICALLY, you can only be sued by the owner/creator of the game.
    Korean? probly so
I doubt half of the korean dev's care about flyff pservers anyways.
