Exactly, it looked like everyone was helping each other and stuff, then all the sudden I bet 2-3 people got it, and even though they were working together before, they failed to share their info with people who helped them out, this is how RageZone works now.

Don't worry about cracking it that much it's just an old and buggy v3 source. Not much potential.

It's a guess. eFlyff had it's first beta test in June 2005, and some of the files inside are dated around that time.

We'll see if I'm right when it gets cracked.

stop to dream we haven't found any password actually, and we have already said that it could take some month (or year) with simple bruteforce. This thread isn't dead it's just that we have nothing more to say... Bruteforce is still working but we haven't any password for the moment.
if nicco have made this post and if we're working together, then we will release the password or the files. Why ? because even with those file only developers will be able to do somethnig with it, so there is nothing to worry about... (if it was v15 full i could understand why people don't want to share it and i prefer that those who have it don't share it to anyone, even developers like me or nicco, than to see them released and ready to compile) but here we're speaking about some v4 or V5 or any older version, this is not for leecher (who want something ready to compile with all the stuff) but for developers.

So why not sharing this file if i found the password ? there is no reason, and on contrary, we all want to see more developement here and less leeching...

so the 7z dll seems to be too slow for any reason, right?

at this point maybe there are 2 options..

study the entire 7zip source code to find how it works and take the most interesting part about decryption to build a very fast bruteforce program..

or study directly the 7zip file format, and write an utility that manages rapidly the bytes in memory to crack the file, without reopening it from disk to ram every time

Is it possible to find out the hash of the password?

Better than a new shitty v15 source, i'm sorry but i'd prefer an old one to a new one. Aeonsoft made a fail of this game, it'd be easier to use the old one to make something decent of it tbh. The bugs are easy to fix, for those who know the bugs of that time anyway.

    agree

it seems it is hard to bruteforce using windows XD linux is better in this things....

I don't actually think its neither windows nor linux that is slow in majority.
I said a few times that I heard that 7z could be whilst encrypting each and every file loop something 262,000 times, not for each byte but something else I forgot...

It's not just the bugs. Pre-v5 was incomplete and lacked a lot of features. But if this is a kFlyff source then it should be more complete, as they had everything eFlyff didn't have in v3/v4.

Incomplete and lacked a lot of features? I'd say that about v15, tbqh. Just to say, the source will be kflyff, as I assume they simply translated everything for other languages, rather than having a source for each version. So kflyff get it first, they bugtest, use kflyff as essentially, a beta server. Fix stuff and then translate stuff. By the time it's all translated etc the next version will be available in korea, and eFlyFF will have just got the old kflyff. And so on.

Obviously not JUST translations but yeah, just a rough outline.

    On topic please?
