[Help][MISC] Having trouble starting the MySQL service

Well, I've decided to make a Flyff Server again and do some more learning and testing, but having problems even getting MySQL configured. It's all fine until I get to the execute button, and once I hit it it stops, saying it couldn't start the MySQL service. Has anyone else had this problem who might have a possible fix for it. I'm not sure what exactly could effect this, and I've even checked the MySQL website/forum to no avail.

There's plenty of people that have had this problem there, but the forum is soo messy, I don't wanna spend 2 days going through the posts just to find out whats going on and also I don't understand half of what they are talking about half the time anyway so far. Or if anyone wants to share there MySQL config file, that may help too. although depending on the cause of my problem, that may or may not even help.

Thanks for any help I can get on this issue.

Edit: I'm getting a lot of InnoDB errors in the event log too, if that helps any. (still checking around for an answer though myself, but figure someone here may know the answer faster then I can find it for myself.)

what is your configuration on your machine. It doesn't seem to be server related, more rather software related. try uninstalling the mysql and reinstalling it carefully with out things like AV and rootkit software enabled that might prevent a clean install.

I'm running Windows XP SP3 atm, and I did finally get it to work but I had to install MySQL 4.1.22 instead of a newer version which I really prefer to run. But I did try installing it with A/V and firewall both disabled and also with enabled. I've literaly tryed everything I could think of, as I always do before posting since I (like the rest of us) hate when people don't put forth an effort before asking for help. I'm running Comodo atm, as I like the control it gives me over my system. Only other firewall I've seen the same control out of in the past (from my personal experiences at least) was Zone Alarm.

The disadvantage though is sometimes that CAN cause problems lol... But I've installed it just fine before I did my reformat/install and there's only a couple real variables that are different this time. One is Comodo, and the other was VLC player. Although I uninstalled that with Perfect Uninstaller, but now it seems I've got problems playing certain media files too, I'm wondering if PU maybe did TOO good a job cleaning out my registry lol... But I figured I'd ask for help here before anywhere else in case someone had experienced the same problem. And so I suppose if I can't find a solution here, I'll keep asking around and see what more i can find out. And I suppose for my testing purposes, the 4.1.22 version of MySQL should be fine.

But if anyone has any direction to point me in, please do let me know as I still haven't discovered a permanent solution. Thanks to anyone who is willing to try and help.

Edit: Clam, I just now thought about this, but are you saying you had the same problems as me UNTIL you checked the anonymous account box, or did you have the same problems WHEN you checked the anonymous account box? Because come to think about it, the first few times that I had no problems I did use the anonymous account option where as this time I didn't. I went by Jason145's guide setting it back up, because regardless of how many times I've done it, after a few days or a week I almost totally forget due to a condition I have. More like I forget certain details, but you get my point I guess. But maybe that would explain why, it could be that I would have always had problems had I not used the anonymous account option. I also don't use a "factory" Windows XP SP3 install either, I'm using one from dareckibmw as I like the functionality and the integrated driver packs. Could be an issue with that "install" also though. I'll stop rambling now though, just let me know about your anonymous account experience when you see this. Thanks.

Oh, and I've been wondering something else too for a long while now actually. This is unrelated to my topic, but saves making another post and I'm pretty sure you should know Glaphan if someone else doesn't before you. In the Flyff .res files, I'm assuming that some of the text is encrypted, such as
