I had the problem i had sql already on my computer ok so what you wanna do is uninstall MSXML6 which is a pain you have to download
Microsoft Install Clean Up:
Download Windows Installer CleanUp Utility 2.5.0.1 Free - Remove Windows Installer configuration information on failed installs - Softpedia

and look for it in there remove it and you should be sweet to reinstall sql

if this didnt solve your problem i dont know what to do lol coz this is the exact same thing that happened to me

naarghh... I got the same problem and uninstalling MSXML6 didn't solve it :(

I just uninstalled MSSQL and tried to reinstall it. Now it always pops this error.

Although in my case only "SQL Server Database Services" and "Workstation Components" fail to setup.

did you try using the Windows Insaller Cleanup Utility after it failed? It might not fix the issue but it's worth trying

Okay, I fixed it. The problem was caused by services keys in registry, leftover after previous installation. In case somebody had the same problem - to fix this open Registry Editor (regedit) and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services, and there remove ALL services with MSSQL in their name (there should be four of them). After this, restart your PC and there you go :)
