I agree with you, but honestly they won't dissapear and they usually end in flames already. It would be better to have a section sort of like an advertisement section where they can all show off their stuff and no one can post on their threads. That way, they can show off their epenis without spamming the main section and nobody has to even see the threads if they don't want to look.

That'd be a good idea. Make a section where everybody can advertise which will eventually go to hell and people will vote to remove it. Once it's removed, all the e-penis advertisers will have left or started doing other things and that could easily solve the problem.

Imho, regarding the Show threads, if people want to show off their work, TAKE IT TO THE BLOGS. I've seen plenty of people showing off their work on the RZ Blogs instead of creating a Show Off thread. It's way better that way.

They can just put Link to my development log in their signature or something, instead of advertising their server with half-assed banners.

Re: Hi Flyff users, please read

I'm a newbie in programming and making project, but i have a suggestion that could help people like me who want to know always something more and new, and not just making showoffs of templates like usually happens

Why don't we do small groups of users that work on a common project and develop it step by step? it would create something new and increase the will of knowledge, that is the soul of a community.

For example, we can select some Group Masters between the people who are most expert, or know more about something, and then the people who want to follow them to learn and develop will join the group they want.

    For example:
    Group Master: SUser1
    - SuperUser1 likes c-like syntax and prefers to work with sockets, memory management, sql databases. So he/she will start an emulator project written in c++/c#/java.
    Then:
    - User2 joins SuperUser1 group/team because he loves writing asynchronous connections and wants to write and learn how stored procedures work
    - User3 joins SuperUser1 group/team because knows something about memory allocation and database but wants more about connections

---These people and some other form a team and will work on a common project, a common repository, a common chat and they have an official thread about their creations. They will necessarily learn something new if they work, and will necessarily produce something: learning and development will proceed in the same way at the same time---

The groups can be made for every aspect of a server, and every aspect can have more groups: SERVER SIDE EMULATORS, CLIENT SIDE EMULATORS, HTML/PHP are just examples for groups.

And overall, in my opinion, it's not important what you produce, or if your emulator is complete or powerful, if your project is awesome or not: the most important thing is believe hard in what you make.

Small groups made of a leader and some learners is the way to go

Correct it will never be the same. We lost many good developers who cared about the section. But recently we gained a lot of people who like to develop items and such for the game. As far as large scale projects go. You might see one or two.

I'm still undecided if I want to put my development back on the section until I see what direction this place is going. I always hope for the best.

The adequate developers have been gone for a while, just because a few changes are made now doesnt mean they were there in the first place, sure it was one or two,

2009 was when the developent and the ideas were overwhelming.

Good times. I remember them vividly. Let's hope those good times return.

Only a handful who really helped make this section great a while back by solidifying development have left. Sure others followed in their inspiration but its never the same feeling anymore. I congratulate all who learned from us and those inspired to take things one step higher.

You say that you want development to come back, to replicate the 'good old days' of the FlyFF development section, but you're saying at the same time you're saying you're not sure if you want to put your developments back onto the section?
You realise that the reason good developers leave, or don't come here is because there are no promising projects going on? Because it appears that there's no genuine development, and whenever there is people make it closed. As far as I was aware, that wasn't the aim of RZ as a Development community?

As far as I've always seen GK, you're as close to a leader as this cesspit has. Not only have you been a mod for a long time, but you've also been the one to push a few development projects. Sure, not all of your work has been finished and such, but you've certainly created and run moderately successful development projects.
Why not keep pushing your project? These changes to the section can only make it better, and by introducing a few good projects at this time (like yours and spikes), you could really actually genuinely make something. If you stop the projects, then developers will continue to leave, or just not work on anything.

Somebody has to launch a big-ish project soon. I don't see why you launch projects and then take away the development as soon as something changes slightly.

Re: Hi Flyff users, please read

Well I did bring back the open sourced client I was working on. It looks as if development is starting to comeback little by little.

I would have like to think of myself as a leader but recently that has become subjective. Whether or not I am a Moderator or Golden Member, I will strive to roll with this section as I always have. Before Dios descended upon this section, I was thinking of walking away. Reasons of my own and not related to this section also played a factor.

It makes me happy that a lot of you believe in me. I didn't do this for the fame nor money. I didn't leave on my own accord nor do I blame MentaL for handing down the decision. That guy has a lot of hard decisions to make because our section is but one of many. Call me short sighted but I do not see outside this section much. Their concerns are not my concerns. Once in a while I popped around the whole forum but generally my place is here.

I'm going to say this one time and one time only so remember what I said: As long as there is active development and people are willing to help one another, I will always be around. Even if I am no longer a mod, I still call this place a home away from home where like minded programmers can bounce ideas off one another without worrying about egos getting in the way.

Do not forget that once this place has been cleaned and restructured, you all get the chance to decide who you want to head this place alongside current mods. Do not be afraid to speak your mind when the time comes. Personally, I don't care who it is as long as there isn't a hidden agenda involved or they have a personal stake in private server. Those two factors should be red flags when thinking about that. But its too soon to even discuss it.

Just go down the section and if you see a thread you believe should be trashed, report it. Then, a mod will review the report and take action if needed. Simple as that.

Only if he fixes the stupid and obvious questions that people ask.
Judging by your posts in this sections, you ask questions about everything.
EG: Looking for a v16 tool.
You where looking for this, sure.
Someone tells you to search on ragezone for threads about it, if it isn't there, google it.
You ask for link like 3 times.
If you search and it isn't there, it doesn't exist.

If the person can't contribute to the thread then they shouldn't post. (And yes, I consider it trolling to just give a link about google. Lots of times people have already googled or looked)

Instead of being a troll they could actually try to be mature by saying something, "Doesn't exist," or, by attempting to help find such a thing. It isn't that hard. If someone is trying to be as decent enough to ask a question then they shouldn't be treated like shit.
