but what you said is a smart idea, with how Flyff just adds some more levels and equipment per "MAJOR" update.
Just saying if you wanted to keep and ongoing story it would be hard for a flyff game. Coz atleast with WOW or Aion or most p2p games there is an ongoing War they can just add new scenario's too. War with Masquerpets is quite boring lolz
ALSO
whats the reason for going Master
OH NO A WITCH CURSED YOU AND NOW YOUR LEVEL 60 AGAIN, BUT HANG ON! THE CURSE ALSO CARRIES SOME BLESSINGS. YOU NOW GET MORE STAT POINTS AND SOMEHOW NOW CAN EQUIP WEAPONS YOU COULDN'T PREVIOUSLY EQUIP WHEN YOU WEREN'T CURSED!!!!

Yes and thats the problem nowdays. Private servers arn't supposed to be super high rated so that all the kiddos can run around and think they super awesome because they have a hero on a 1000x rated server.
A private server over all should be a low rated server, but still higher then the official server. The reason for creating a private server is: The game is a P2P or the game is crappy in many ways and some people decide to take the game in their hand and fix the problems themself that the owners of the real server don't want to.
In this case flyff misses Quests, more things to do before you are hero, other things to do then leveling, like more crafting etc, more things for guilds to do that isn't just pvp, like guild dungeons, more party quests, dungeons. and so on.
If a server would successfully insert things like this and stay low rated then im pretty sure it could get around since everyone wants to test something new and big that no other server has.

Yeah, but you don't have to stick with a max level, or the master/hero system, or really anything else tbh.
There's absolutely no reason for not making your own version of FlyFF which addresses everything you dislike about it. You don't have to implement new versions.

Mu exp is way different the FlyFF's. While in flyff you have 180 levels and you're done, in mu you have 400 levels until you reach your stats to the max(each a WORD 32767). They get approximately 1995 stat points per reset, you do the math... (about 65 rebirths to being done).

Hi abuse :> I miss your old server.

Re: Ideas on how to create a popular server
Yes , we could use the source to create/recreating(idk if it's in the source) an automated rebirth system without the use of using a panel of some sort.

Re: Ideas on how to create a popular server
if your a private server that has a donation shop full of items for players to buy, your no better than gpotato, people dont play private servers to experience the same BS they did in eflyff, in my opinion people should donate with the promise of new development and not a special cloak

Because the sole purpose of a private server is to spend money and not make any back.

Then how do you expect the owner to survive IRL? Or pay his staff? Unless your vision of a perfect private server is ran by a spoiled brat who lives off his parents in their basement, has no job or life and doesn't contribute jack shit to his developers and staff.

It was sarcasm lol.
I know that a server needs to make money through some way since you can't start up a server without $$$ unless your home hosting which is never ever ever a good idea.

If you got a good PC with a decent connection, it's a good way to start out. Else you can pay for a cheap VPS, then slowly upgrade your way up.

No it's not. It just makes it easier to completely hack and destroy the owner and steal server files. Running from home is the worst thing a private server owner can do. If they really want to host a server, they need to stop being lazy fucks and get a job or invest their own money into the server.

To start out with it wouldn't hurt. Of course a big server like Demon would be really stupid to use PC hosting. But paying 200$/month for experimenting and having 10 players on, it's just a waste of money. But to start up, get some knowledge on what it actually is you're messing with. And please stop insulting in every comment you make.

If you're just hosting a sandbox server with trusted friends, a home server is still risky but better than blowing money on a host. But for a public private server, it's always a bad idea.

That is usually how it starts out. But yes, I fully agree on using home hosting to a 'serious' pserver is plain stupid. The price isn't even that bad. When the time comes that you need an expensive dedicated server, you should have collected enough money from donations.
