[NOTICE] The results are in......
As it stand at this time 9PM EST, the score is Yay 59 and Nay 39 with a 20% gap.
Now this is going to be a final closing argument before I pass judgment.
ONE person from either side will cast ONE post each to show me why you want or don't want the files.
And I'm not talking about one lined sentences saying because I love them or hate them.
Be serious and most of all, be honest.

I think that caali's rev 1 should stay because it keeps some noobs in learning to make programmes.

Re: [NOTICE] The results are in......
I'm neither supporting nor against the share of Caalis files in this forums, so by saying that I'll share my overall opinion.
Caalis files brought light to the flyff private server gaming world. Although Kiki was developing his server, after the release of the first leaked files, FlyFF went further (Althought FFF already existed back then). The general hatred towards these files are mainly because of the community that manages them, so before continuing, if the files get "removed" from RaGEZONE, it's the community's fault, so don't go blame the people that are currently developing the files, since they could use the files aswell for packet thingies.
Even though it's due to the community, the continuous development and use of these files is completly useless. Due to their existance, 80% of the FlyFF private server community has closed themselves around such files, while the other 20% is trying to develop their own files and take the FlyFF private server community beyond the limits made by Caali's Files.
Both removal or no removal will have consequences. Like I said, it's useless to continue with them, but, since it's also part of the human nature, people most of the time go the easy way (Caalis) and pretend the hard way doesn't even exist (server developments).
IMHO, although the files get removed, there always be someone talking about them.. You may remove them from here, but they'll be out there, people will still use them.
Now, do as you see fit. Consequences will occur, but I'm sure the community will see that such action will have benefits for everyone.

Re: [NOTICE] The results are in......
I'll go ahead and post what I have before, and what a few others have said and or agreed with.
Pros:
1. Quick easy server to set up ( The only reason I myself believe why it's so popular )
2. Good for packet sniffing, Although some things aren't complete / or right.
3. ... Can't think of anymore at this time.
Cons:
1. They were leaked, without consent of the owner... who used to post here quite a bit.
2. With the exception of Rev_1, they are backdoored and buggy. Although Rev_1 is still exploitable as said by a few.
3. They have a ton of bugs, that can not be fixed.
4. This is a DEVELOPMENT forum, and quite obviously we don't have the source files for them so we can no develop them.

5. The community surrounding the files are normally either all leechers, or close to it. ( people copying stuff from here to gzp or another forum and vice versa )
6. The forum posts ( community extended ) are rather repetitive and annoying...
6.1 There is quite a bit of databases out there from multiple people and including the same people re-releasing them without the previous owners consent or knowledge and renaming it theirs. ( as lmanso did with aldimasters db )
6.2 There is quite a few CP's made for them, not much more you can do. And again, another forum type that gets released a million times over.
6.3 There is complaining and arguing over the files constantly.
I myself feel the last thing listed is why they should go. Ever since I joined the only thing I've seen is people arguing over these files. People hate them, even the ones that say they don't... do. They cause drama and that's not what this community need.
As one post in my thread I made with the poll said, for everyone that hates them to just ignore them or w.e...
Well that's not exactly so easy when 90% of the stuff released is caali stuff. As well with the main active mod of this section being a big part of the dragon or now rhisis project, it would potentially distract him from actually helping with the development because he has to be here dealing with all the caali drama in the release section... And that can go for the majority of people, it's been pretty clear we're all aware of the troubles they have caused between the community and especially this forum being known as "leechzone" to quite a few including DeadlyD and many others and that's including Caali himself as I'm sure feels the same way.
And I do believe that quite a while ago around the first time this poll came to be, caali said he wouldn't mind helping this community if we got some open source projects going and got rid of the support for his leaked files. ( not saying he would for sure, but it's always a possibility... ) So how would getting rid of them bad?
By getting rid of the leaked files, you could potentially gain back the support of the creator of the files you all worship so damn much, to help with the current project/s. Wouldn't that be a whole lot better in the long run? =/
Yeah the community will probably be a wreck the first few weeks of them being banned, but they'll learn to deal with it. And you may end up finding some people that have an undiscovered passion for coding... I know theres a ton of people out there that just don't know where to start, and when they find they don't have to make them or know how to compile them... then they just turn to caalis stuff and are done. Well, maybe if those files didn't exist here then they would of gotten more interested in the sources we now have, and potentially start learning and discover they love it and it's fun, and they can go about doing a LOT more things computer wise. And you never know you could always turn that undiscovered love into a career! Not a job, as a job is something I refer to as a place you don't want to be but you have to, to get the bills paid. But a career is somewhere you love to be and you get to make money doing what you love!
Bit sidetracked towards the end 8D

Re: [NOTICE] The results are in......
This is how I see it.
The rev1 files inflate your machine and will consume your space in a matter of minutes. This was fixable through hex editing I believe.
I mean it can make a 4gb log file in a matter of minutes. Is that what you want? To constantly be messing with your machine because the files are like that?
Next I believe that the files should be removed. I'm sorry about this but this section has become a cesspool for constant flaming, complaining and most of all multiple questions on the same subject.
ITS ENOUGH! I tried to reason with you the first time because I felt sorry for the die hards out there that believe in the server files.
You need to understand that running a half finished server is very unprofessional and you also run the risk of getting it shutdown by a rogue player wanting to be a GM. If Caali ever were to release the source code, WHICH I DOUBT, then things would be different.
Honestly, there is a constant flow of people asking, "Please give me files Pl0x!" You know how many threads I delete in a day that contain that.
Do you know how many infractions I have to give out because they can't read the rules. It's hard to give demerits like that over, and over, and over again because its too hard to go with the flow.
You all need to ban together. I have seen wonderful releases for databases, launchers, and control panels all because you believe in a half finished set of files.
Let me ask you this.
If we were to release the same but with a source that can easily be compiled and open to the public, wouldn't that spark the developmental interest in all of you. You should realize that while the files made an impact on here, the same can be said for a meteorite. Once it hits the ground, its over, the dust settles after a while and all your left with is a hole in the ground.
You want something you can perfect and contribute and not something you can see if you change a column on a database that it will give different results.
Now, I am taking away the files because the majority has petitioned for it. Plus the higher mods are in agreement as well.
Things will get better, things will be rough, but with the things I have seen here, you will manage.
There are enough sources out there to get started on completing one of them. Look at OSAFlyFF. The author quit and still people have taken the helm and keep on going.
In time you will understand why it has come to pass.
Look at RO and MS. both had leaked files and both have flooded itself with repacks and developmental releases attributed to it. So why can't this section do the same.
As popular as it is, its the only section that really don't have anything to show. And the packets are not encrypted (so far) so it shouldn't be that hard to dive into the stuff.
I am hereby carrying out the wishes of the people. I am locking all resolved threads but not deleting them and removing all links to the actual files. DBs, and Tool kits are going to be left because its not directly related to the stuff.
So there is going to be no more talk about setting up the server because there are so many out there it doesn't take a genius to find them.
And I am strictly enforcing a gag order on the file talk pertaining to Caali's files. There is more than enough information that you shouldn't have a problem setting up and running one. Plus there is a vast amount of stuff to go with it so you shouldn't be devoid of all of it.
I was hoping the section would evolve beyond the many leechers it possesses but I belive a change is in order.
If you need to get the files, do so during PM time.
This is your one and only warning. I will enforce this with an iron fist. I give the people what they want.
For all the leechers who support this only 40+ people voted to keep it out of thousands. That shows a great lack of support and respect.
I am sorry for your losses but this is the way it must be.
Do take heed to my words. They are heart felt and to the point.
