Reusing Character Name

Hi, I just have set up my first server and somehow made a mistake, I tried to copy paste the original source file and the next thing I know is that I can no longer access my character ( loads only till character select ) so I decided to delete my character and create another one. But I wasn't able to, an error showed up saying 'That character name is already in use.'

So I have three questions..
1. When updating my source file, which files shouldn't I touch to prevent this problem to occur.
2. I have search the internet for a possible solution but they said wait for 20-30 days. How can i change this settings for players to able to use the same name after a character deletion.
3. How can I reuse my name now, which source file should i check?

The names are stored in the database.. you could either delete that account using sql coding or just edit the ingame name in character table

Thankyou for your reply, one last thing. Does changing the whole source folder would cause the characters to stop functioning normally? because I don't have any idea how i had the problem in the first place.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by "changing whole source folder"? Do you mean that you just edited the source? Or you compiled new *.exe files and replaced the old ones?

EDIT: I just saw your help thread and how you tried to add v16 features. If you made a mistake editing the source, then yes it is very likely that is what is causing your issues.

And the time delay with re-using character names is I'm pretty sure strictly a database thing, that wouldn't have anything to do with the source.

Like what you have read, I tried to copy the v16 features to your source, folder by folder and I thought I'm not doing it correctly.
so I decided to delete everything in Flyff Repack (v15) (rev3.1)\Source and copied paste the unedited version from the zip file.

I thought that no errors might occur to the characters since I'm not changing anything with the Program>AccountServer and the Scripts.
So I'll be careful not to change anything in entirely in the future, Anyway, I've been grateful to your reply guys.. but one last thing.. if it wouldn't be a problem to you guys, please do reply in my other thread. since I've been given instructions in which what I shouldn't do but not what I should do to apply the patch. and the problem is still unsolved. http://forum.ragezone.com/f483/updat...-file-1041746/
