That sounds like a great idea, but wouldn't hackers or exploiters find a way around that? You know... Since they are hackers and all.
Until somebody released a bypass tool for them to leech, they wouldn't. Most of those "hackers" are 12 year olds who learned how to google a program and make it run.

There are reasons most server files use MsSQL, but when it comes to "privately" owned servers, MySQL would make more sense. I assume you know that already though.

the v6 project is going to be on hold for a while because I wanted to see some improvement from the developers and all that was done was some things were being fired off into the air randomly.
there is nothing successful about having the last version being released when you have the opportunity to mold the game into something better.
I would say I accomplished what I wanted with my so called "abandoned" projects.
I built upon kiki's c++ server files. they then turned into Rhisis which is doing well last I heard.
Myself and a few other devs didn't buy into the whole "caali servers are god" craze at all. So in that sense, I see a lot of failures on a lot of people's servers.
Not one freakin server is content with what they have. They are always looking for the newest version. Its bullshit. You can't even get used to a version before some noob is screaming where is version xx? How is that success?
You think things happen overnight? You think I sit around and dev flyff all day? I have a ton of other projects sitting in my lap, not mention a full time job as a beta tester to several big name companies. It was one of the main reasons I took time off so I could help test a new MMO coming next year if not sooner that should put WoW in its place.
Anyway, I never left, and I didn't come back. I have always been.
Enough about that...
Silent to answer your post, I choose MySQL because its much easier in my opinion to convert it over to MsSQL if need be. plus I'm much more versed in that language anyway.
