Server Verification Error

Back when v14 was the bomb, I used to use the official files all the time. With time, I kind of lost interest and so never bothered with v15 when it first came out. The other day I decided to finish the item mall I started a few months ago, so I downloaded the v15 files and had a go at it.

Everything seems fine except I keep getting a "Server Verification Error" when I try to login. I thought it might have been my database, so I switched database to the full structures one released by Cookiezz, but still no luck. I even tried recompiling the neuz.exe and certifier.exe and removed what I thought was the version checking code, but that only resulted in "Could not connect to server" messages.

I looked up the protocol error in the source and it said something like CERT_ERROR_GEN so it wasn't very helpful XD

My client is using the data.res, dataSub1.res and dataSub2.res generated by merge2. I didn't copy flyff.a over and I deleted flyff.b, although I did try it with both of those intact and had no success.

The client was initially a fresh install of the v15 client if that helps. The MSG_VER in the server configs is "20070712".

Any suggestions would be appreciated. This stupid error has had me stumped for the past few days.

I had this issue as well.

If the version is wrong it's going to come out with Version mismatch btw.

But it is the database. I can't remember if i switched to the .bak databases or Sedrikas. One of them works and will remove the Verification error.

Well, that took longer than I would've liked lol. It worked with the Serus .bak files after I wiped everthing but the actual sql instance ans started fresh. Thanks for the help.

For anyone else who runs into this problem, do the following.

1) delete all linked servers. You're gonna have to remake them later.
2) delete all the databases
3) create the databases again and restore from the .bak files
4) make sure your ODBCs are set up properly. I used Windows Authentication on all of them.
5) create the linked servers again

It should work after that.
