    Static IP + Port fowarding

I'm getting tired of copy pasting this in threads so I'll make one. =]

To get a static ip just go in your start menu -> run then type in ipconfig /all there you'll see your IP Address, Subnet mask, DNS and such. Write down your Subnet mask, default gateway and the DNS that's given on there. (Make sure you get the infos from your Local arena network) Then go in your control panel then network connections, right click your local area connection -> properties. When you're in there you should get a window saying the ethernet card you're using, look for Internet Protocol in General tab. Select it and click properties then check the Use this following IP address circle and put in the static IP you want. Make sure the 3 first numbers are the same as your router's ip and the last number shouldn't be over 255. So let's say your router's IP is 192.168.2.1 Then you should put 192.168.2.(The last number of your choice between 2 and 255) Then put in the subnet mask, default gateway and the DNS. (You don't need to fill in the auxilary DNS) When you're done filling that up just hit ok and close the other window, your internet should restart. If it doesn't work then just go back in there and click the obtain automaticly circle and let me know if it doesn't work.

If it worked then all you have to do next is go in your router's configurations and forward your ports. Get to the port forwarding page or virtual servers(that's how most of new routers call it) when you got it just fill in what's needed to be filled name, port, etc. Make sure you put in the same IP address you put as your static IP address. If you don't know the ports, they are all in the .ini files. (login, char, world .ini's ). When your done, just go to www.whatismyip.com and write down the ip there. It'll be the IP for the server.

    Hope this helped,

    Dom.
