shout What do you define as a "kid"?

When recruiting staff for private servers, people are constantly asking for no "kids" to apply, Obviously this appears to be constantly slamming people under the age of 18 for "irresponsibility", however, I was one of the most mature and trusted staff members on quite a few private servers in the past, (From age 12ish) and after that, I went and started making private servers, I'm 16 now and know nearly perfect Object-Oriented PHP, C++, Java, HTML, Javascript, JQuery and RGSS2.

So, What is the point in saying "No Kids" For private server staff, I honestly think that if they can prove that they are mature, they should be able to have positions.

    Discuss.

any1 th4t sp33ks l1k3 d1s = k1d, pretty much "kid" is defining one who is either irresponsible or knows nothing about the field of work they are about to be hired for :)

Its also used by those who wish to make someone else appear less important than they are, or trying to demean someone else like "Hey kid, wtf you talkin bout, you know nothing ect"

But I do agree, most people working for flyff servers are pretty young anyway. If they can prove they are responsible and have the skills there is no point declining them ;P.

there are a ton of "kids" out there who apply for these positions just to get GM powers, and other perks like getting paid money. They have no regard for the rules and constantly abuse them just because they can. You just can't walk onto a server and say make me GM or I know a fraction of C++ and I'd like to be a developer.

Many are scammers. A fraction are legit. Distinguishing between the two is very difficult. When they say "no kids", they mean you NEED to know your shit, how to GM or your way around Beast otherwise, there's the door. Its not demeaning to say that. People in the real world say it all the time but call it "Work Experience" instead.

A kid to me is somebody who is immature, unable to handle power, emotionally unstable, etc. I've met immature 16 year olds, as well as immature 30 year olds. Basically any immature person can be a kid, or labeled as one.

immature kid in your staff means =
    1: the server looks unprofessional.
    2: server ruined.

Young generation who plays flyff and are GMs, most of the time go through things like:

    1) Favoritism.
    2) Power Abuse.

Therefore, It makes more sense if server hires more mature/older person.

Re: What do you define as a "kid"?

Age doesn't matter much to me, yet i want them to have some basic understanding when it comes to proper grammar and English as well as professionalism.

If they are 12, and they can be mature and have a bunch of skills It's no problem. I've worked with young people, (Apixen) and hes a talented guy but yet young. It's all about their attitude and skills, and if they have those things they shouldn't be "denied" for their age.

But most 12 years old are immature, and good at lying. So if you hire a guy at that age, make sure he knows the deal and that he can be mature at all times. I personally hate servers with immature staff, professional staff attracts players.

Those people are the ones i hate.
You help or have a p-server to enjoy and let others enjoy.
    Its not a job.
You develop on it for fun.
You gm on it for fun.
    You play it for fun.
    You chat for fun?
Earning money on or from a p-server is a bad thing.

It's called being community friendly, not immature.
