See, this is the way I see it, Thinaria:
We need like 3 Web Developers.
We need like 2 map devs
We need like 1 security managers
We need like ** GMs (Depends all on how many clusters / servers there are.)
We need alot of stuff, but we don't know if our community can handle it.
We have so many developers, but alot of them hate each other, therefore creating an unbalanced community.
You are right about the developers all hating each other. We have massive egos and we are all trying to get a 1up on the next guy. That leads to stealing work, flaming and such.
MentaL, indirectly, is trying to get the community united on one front instead of at each other's throats.
Should he pick a group or an already established server, you should support them because to represent RZ is a high achievement. RZ is always near the top in search engines and a lot of people advertise on the site.
That doesn't mean you don't have to work hard when you get that achievement. There are a lot of Rage Servers that fizzle quickly. Not because of bickering but low population.
You owe it yourselves to support this pServer because its a secret goal of all of you to say that you were a part of its creation.
Personally, I don't know shit about security, but I can develop web systems, and map levels pretty well (or good, I'm not an English major).
I will say the source is horrible in deciphering. Absolute horrid. It needs a MAJOR upgrade into managed DX or even XNA. I'm testing out some things right now.
C++ would be a good match if it were 2003 but its 2010 and the framework NEEDS to be taken advantage of. If XNA can make FPS and 3PS like Doom 3 and Gears of War then it should be nothing to upgrade it into a system that can better handle directX and other managed protocols. It was built as a replacement for managed DX so I don't see why it couldn't be done.
Anyway, certain people need to grow up around here because this server will fail if skiddies get butthurt and attack this one.
I'll apply for a map developer. ;)
More like this:
2-3 Web Developers
1 Map Developer
1 2D Developer
1 3D Developer
X GM's
X Coders
1-2 Administrators
The thing most people fail to realize is that not everybody here can administrate, even if you can code a beast emulator or hack into the pentagon doesn't mean you're capable of administrating a huge community and handling everything. It's always best to let somebody else administrate if you're unable to.
Sadly, the last line of Glaph's post is probably what will happen. Somebody's gonna get butthurt and attack it. There's always that one person who ruins the fun :<
@Rena if Tritium did become RageFlyff, it would become a common enemy simply because of the name associated with it and the fact that it's major competion, especially if the community supported it.
I'm sure we all know whom will do it, or attempt to do it. If 'x' can reach a certain level then so can someone else, no one is safe online wise.. don't be afraid. :3 lol
May I ask who X is? Just because someone hacked your server dosen't mean he's going after RZ.
At first I wouldn't think of who's the best to develop the game itself, but to fix every damn thing which could be exploited on the server.
Security comes in first.
Then when that part is done, then you could begin creating and forming the game as you wish.
It dosen't take much time nor skills to make the game unique.
Making custom login windows, 2 min if you got the texture.
Custom maps 1 week.
Updated or ripped items 1 day.
If the RaGEZONE server got hacked, it would destroy its reputation.
Go v15 and customize it up to v16. There are many antihacks and Im pretty sure most people would love to help and participate.
Even though ragezone has alot of enemies with a strong team you can defend yourself.
Example: Fame was hacked and had the exes/db stolen by gers.
Was their reputation destroyed? No they continued to fight until the bitter end of it ( which was Deadly leaving the old fame actually).
