When did you start java?

Ok, so i started this thread to learn how long y'all learned the ways of java.
I'm still new despite the fact i joined the forum months ago and just looked at tutorials. So, when did you start, and what lead you to start, where you interested, did you want your server to be better from your past mistakes of leeching, or etc?


Since i'm a noob still, not even learning java yet. Still converting bases and learning how to update opcodes... I would like some opinions of the people so i can inevitably someday be as good as y'all.

I began Java on TitanMS.

I signed up for educator.com and started taking the Java tutorials not too long ago. I'm still a noob. :P

I also started reading 'Java Concepts 5th Edition' by Horstmann. It helps explain the video tutorial concepts in more detail.

It's all so confusing but I'll get it eventually I know :D

Edit: I'm still looking for a nice Java game to develop (I'll probs settle down with Maple if I can figure out how to setup a test server.)

I started make ps when Titanms source was released :D When odinms was released I started make npc chat, new table in sql and other shit ;) Then my friend learn me analysing packet I started update source (v62-73) ^^

I kinda like came back a few days, now gonna try and open a server for me and a few friends, and play around with the source. My first goal is to learn how to apply my own fixes to codes (like adding code snippets correctly to erase errors).

I'm more of a C++ person but who knows, maybe I'll learn Java instead :)

I forgot the repack/source name, but it was surely v55. (Might of been Titan or something similar)

Now I'm slowly moving through tutorials until I get things memorized as much as possible.

I started with tutorials and how to actually fix errors...followed by looking at some basic scripts through a class and textbooks. Then I properly identified and learnt how to solve errors through the collection of solutions

I started because I got an offer, plus the jobs are easier to obtain. I started with Swing and AWT from scratch, and when I meet MapleStory with Java, it was easier for me to understand most of it.

I did started with MapleStory using TitanMS and then moved to SeanPack using Java. Had my first server with a friend, then moved with MrMysterious and then Moogra <3 (My MSN is somehow broken :<).

Mhm. I started when I took the AP Computer Science class in school. Learned Java in 1 weekend (as soon as we got our books) and then spent the rest of the year sleeping in class while getting all A's without even trying.
I'm not really into MapleStory private servers, just because I'm scared (Nexon sues every small private server nowadays), but I do believe I am a good Java coder, and I would be a good private server developer if I felt like getting familiar with the OdinMS package.
However, I don't. I don't want to start playing with fire, and I know I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I open a private server.
