Seems like the script is in dos (windows) formatting, you need to convert it to unix formatting and try again.
use perl -i -pe's/\r$//;' ipchange.sh

Coolz; I re-saved in UNIX formatting (with Notepad++), and it works. Now, what do I give it for new values? Ive tried 192.168.1.50 for the address, but the others confuse me...

Okay, then you should enter like this:
IP address: 192.168.1.50
Gateway : 192.168.1.1
Network : 192.168.1.0
Broadcast : 192.168.1.255

The script wants to always set the network and IP address as the same... ( I reran the script to show the info)

Why is it doing that? (Should I post up a pic of my entries next?) [I guess I should mention I have/use a wireless router which has its admin pages at 192.168.1.1 ]

It looks okay.
Try to connect to your VMBOX from your windows with WINSCP now.
If it still doesn't work, and you wan't change NIC address only (notice this won't set the same address in other file like PW config etc..):
try follow:
vi /etc/network/interfaces
press "i" for insert, then change it manually. When done, press ":w" for save and quit.
When changing IP address, remember to reboot:
type: "reboot" for restart VMBOX =)

ok im a complete noob and im completely lost. ok here is what i have done thus far:
1 downloaded the client and server.
2 imported to VBox
3 err well i got the server to start. and fiddled around with my network settings to get the Vbox network thing to work. managed to bridge a connection.(it still says that the ethernet adapter for my vbox is no networ or internet access)
ok here is my problem. first: my keyboard on VBox is not the united states keyboard so im assuming its set to german (did a little looking around for maps) i can deal with that though. ok my main issue is that i cannot use 192.168.0.50/phpmyadmin or any of the others it wil just say internet explorer cannot display this webpage. next, my client wont connect to the server. (is the server supposed to have bunches of warnings and stuff as its running?) all i want to do is play the game and be a GM and do dongeons and skills i couldnt do before on my lvl 79 barb on international... well ayways if anyone could help me that would be nice.

The VBox's settings may need a change (The VM must be off to change this, under Settings -> Network):

As for fiddling with your VM's ip adress, use the bash script mentioned earlier(attached to the end of this post is a RAR of an ISO containing the script. Mount the ISO into your VM; If you need help with that, look at one of mime's posts directed to me)
Is it supposed to have a bunch of warnings? Depends on the warnings. Screenshot them, please :) However, it is supposed to run up a good sized log of text. As for your client, go to YOURPWDIRECTORY/element/userdata and open the currentserver.ini ,
Then check your CUrrentServerAddress, and change the ip part of it to the address you set in the VM (like 192.168.1.110). DO NOT delete the "29000:" before it!
Need more help, just fire a post.

For my own question: I can't enter the Demon World, even though I've modded the start.sh for it to work. ( I get "Unable to enter Dungeon" , and yes, I am properly cultivated, a Daimon Elder )
Attached is a rar of my start.sh , could someone be so kind as to look at it for me?

Check the gs.conf file in your /PWServer/gs/ directory if there is no entry for these dungeons, they didn't start. Maybe someone can upload a complete gs.conf, i'm currently busy on an iweb-light release so i don't have time to complete the gs.conf in next two weeks.

Well, you can't import because .vmdk is Virtual Hard Disk
Make this:
Create a new [Ctrl + O] in SunVirtualBox, put any name and choose Linux / Ubuntu, set the amount of memory and the next step select "Use existing hard drive" click the icon and on next window, choosing the disk file .vmdk that you downloaded.
Follow the remaining steps and you can start the Virtual Image.

Ok i have tried everything that Wiian said and i dld the rar and tried the iso. i tried accessing it and got messages sayig invalid commands and such. also ipconfig on my pc for some reason doesnt work on the VM or my command prompt... is there something easy i can do... im really trying to get this correct so i can play. also how do i open port 29000? if its on the router i use a Netgear DG834Gv4 so any assistanc wold be very appreciated. i really cant wait to play this =)

1. Accessing what? The ISO? It would be helpful to screenshot what you tried, please.
2. The VM uses "ifconfig" (minus the quotes) for its configuration display.
