So i've been having an interesting problem... I've set up everything following the directions and it's worked so far... server runs, client connects, etc. I can even access the gshop, to a certain point... the problem is, when i click any of the items in the gshop, the client instantly crashes, with a standard client crash report window opening up immediately afterwards.
I've also had problems with modifying the server files; if I change anything (i've only modded gshop.data and elements.data so far) and i go to test it on my client, i can login and see my characters, but can't start the game. It gives me a link:login error and then disconnects me from the server. Any ideas? It's kind of a pain to have to delete the server and rebuild it with virtualBox every time i break something.

Wiian, that really helped. my problem now is that i cannot connect the client to my server. i have tried to change the set ip in the client. so do i need to open port 29000 and if so how do i do that? i also need to know how to allow my adapter access to my network. is says no network access for it... so im gonna try to put it back on the bridge and run ill keep everyone posted on this.

ok well i still cant connect my client to server so im clueless now. i hope that this will work. if any1 wants to help me im always on MSN and u can find that on my user page i think. if not pm me. anyways so yeah im pretty much screwed unless i can get the client to connect. how do you open port 29000? and also how do you access phpmyadmin? well i have to do more schoolwork so ill check back for new posts n bout 2-3hr.

okay ai test on my 1 pc conection ai can no play on 1 pc.
ai install client on 2 pc then ai can connect on server .

well im just needing it to wok on 1 pc for now. i need to know how to connedct to phpmyadmin and all those and also want to get my client to connect. maybe if ssomeone could give me step by step instructions it ould be greatly appreciated. thanks,

Okay, this is simple :)
1.In your (real) computer's browser, go to <YOUR_CLIENT_DIRECTORY>/element/userdata/server
2. Open serverlist.txt
3. You should see

Localhost 29000:192.168.0.50 2
change it to
Code:
Localhost 29000:<VM_IP_HERE> 2
Example: My VBox has an IP Address of 192.168.1.105. So my serverlist.txt is:
Code:
Localhost 29000:192.168.1.105 2
And if I'm not mistaken, the "Localhost" part is the server's name, so change that if you like, without entering/deleting any spaces in the txt file.
As for the port, I am not sure if it only needs opening in your router if you plan to go with others connecting, or if it's universally a "MUST DO THIS". Try the above only, then get back to me on its sucess or fail.

ok i rly need help now cuz im completely lost. my client says unable to connect to server and i cant access phpmyadmin... so now what? i also tried what you said Wiian so not like i blew that off.
also i do have my server running (even now it is on) ill just keep trying to connect...

Download ipscan program, and scan ur computer ip range,if u dont find server ip, it's smth wrong with ur server config

oh yay now it only says that theres no network connection to my vbox host-only adapter... so i assume it has internet? what can i do with that new power? lol sorry im just getting a bit frustrated with this.

Windows 7's "No network access" blabbering is of no relevance; it says that to me and it works fine.
As for your IP range... Well, for one approach,start the ipchange.sh from earlier in our "sessions". If I am correct, it spits out, first thing, your VM's ip info, etc. Screenshot that please :)

Don't beat urself up, but ur "network" value needs to be 192.168.1.1 instead of 192.168.1.50
And ur broadcast should be 192.168.1.255
