Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
thanks for the release, now my server are running but i cannot go to register page and cannot start the game, may be i dunno how to configure portforwarding on my router... prolink huricane 9200 R....

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
:thumbup1: Thank you again Beastie for such a great release!!!!! Also as I went on to further explore / customize this release, I noticed the keyboard localization wasn't for my keyboard (I went to go input a "|" and it came up with a "~" for example).
This should not be too big of an issue for anyone who knows linux, however if this has happened to you and you didn't know what to do; simply type:
Code:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure -plow console-setup
and set up your specific keyboard and localization
I know that nobody has asked for help on this yet, I just figured I would throw it out there in the event it does come up someone will now have their answer in advance :):

The issue at hand is not going to be port forwarding if you are running a single Windows PC, running both the server on VMWare and Client within windows. The issue is going to be IP's. So long as you have not touched any of the IP configs within the vmware image I would recommend you simply change that single PC's IP address (only useful for testing/devving as ONLY THAT pc will work for the game), or changing your routers DCHP/IP handouts (this way you'd be able to play from any PC within YOUR network). Port forwarding does not come into play until you're attempting to make the game server available to "the internet side" or WAN... If that is your goal, I would not worry about that at this time; as you will want to make sure everything works locally prior to having it available to the WAN.
So, so long as you have not touched any IP configs within the image, change your individual PC (or home network) to 192.168.0.X (just not 192.168.0.51 because that's what the server is) after you've done this you should now be able to go to the register page, and login and play the game.

I'm not too sure about the iWeb that is packaged with it, but I have successfully added the "new" iWeb from the other thread now called "pwAdmin" (and I've even created a little addon for it)
check out that thread / download it, and add that to this image; it works perfectly =D

Now you are going to want to forward port 29000 to 192.168.0.51 within your router ;) Just don't forget to give your friends your public IP. If anything you can figure this out by going to http://www.whatismyip.com/ (if you do not know how else to do so), your friends, or any other external WAN clients will have to have your PUBLIC IP in their server list text file.

can u tell me how to do port forwarding?
my router IP : 192.168.0.1
my external ip is a dinamic ip, so i using www.no-ip.com services
how to forward port 29000 to 192.168.0.51?
on my router port forwarding page, there was 2 ip i must input, the local ip address and remote ip address, what ip should i input to local ip address? and what ip should input to remote ip address?
thanks again for helping /:): :P:

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
well if you use a service like that I am pretty sure you will be able to just make sure any external clients have your "domain" in their server list text file (ex.. YOURNAME.NO-IP.ORG) in-place of the IP address. Just make sure you stay up to date on updating your IP with them :))
I was unable to locate a manual on your specific router atm.
I am also going to take this to PM now that I will be helping you with your specific router. I do not want to cloud up the thread with something that may not be of use to everyone.

hmm. I understand that you need to update sun-java6-jre sun-java6-plugin sun-java6-fonts from Vmware that you use and the port to 80 instead pwAdmin .. 8080 I had also experienced the same thing .. but now must use pwAdmin has jre1.5.0_21 uploads by ronny1982 .. to more clearly just looking at the forums
update if I'm wrong

I change the name of the folder in the location webapps / pwAdmin my iweb name .. so if I want to use iweb just typing http://my-IP/iweb that I use instead of using Vmware Vbox .. or the location of the file you wrong placement jre1.xx .. usually when it updated its location was in / usr/lib/jvm/sun-java6--xxx .. and so far there has been no problem ..
try to check again on the file. / start_minimal.sh or. / iweb start.sh placement locations before cd / usr / local / apache-xx ..
script. / I like this start.sh
. / start.sh
echo ""
echo "Apache Tomcat === ==="
export JAVA_HOME = / usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.15/jre
cd / usr/local/apache-tomcat-5.5.28/bin
. / startup.sh
sleep 5
echo "=== DONE! =="
echo ""

Use the latest release of pwAdmin that has fixed the "Integer <> int" issue. Make sure you started apache tomcat server with jre1.5.0_21, all other jre versions may not work.

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
For anyone that wishes to modify this image, to use the HGN client with this image download the following .ISO and mount to VMWare as a "CDROM". You will need to overwrite the few files in /PWServer/gamed/config/ and do not forget to modify the version number in /PWServer/glinkd/gamesys.conf from 10301 to 10306. (or overwrite from ISO as well)

ronny ...
it is true what you say .. I wore open java-6-sun-1.6.0.15/jre can only control it but the server can not open a charcter in the database .. is it possible for java / jre not compatible with my pwadmin you've made .. or it must use jre1.5.0_21?

pwAdmin only supports jre_1.5.0_21, cause the PW-Java API (it's the same as used in iWeb) was aimed to jre_1.5
