how much memory are you allocating to the vmware emulation?

Altered no
and
VMWare memory: 1024 mb Ram

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
i subscribed to megadownload and got the 1 part 1.6gb file. i don have vmware 6.5.1 but i tried with 6.5.2 vmw player 2.5.2 and virtualbox using this disk image. the problem i notice is that the networking on this server image is not working i ca not ping to my systems on the LAND nor pinging the router at 192.168.0.1
the host and all other systems in the LAN can see the router and access the internet through it.

So I release this Image created on VMware Workstation 6.5.1 which has the following installed..
* Java 1.6.0_12 JDK
* Lampp 1.6.8a (which has Apache 2 and MySql 5 installed)
* Perfect World Server files 1.3.6 (version changed to 131 to use on 131 clients)
* Jakarta tomcat 5.5.9 (im sure this works as its accessable with http:/192.168.0.51:8080) but iweb doesn't function correctly
* SSH & OpenSSH server (so you can access the server using putty and WinSCP for ease of use)
also included in the archive is a matching elements.data (by tekk) and gshop.data file, just extract them to your perfect world install directory in elements/data/
The IP of this server is 192.168.0.51 to access the registration page enter
http://192.168.0.51/register/
to start the server there is 2 files
* start.sh (this will start a FULL server including all dungeons etc.. if you dont have the RAM I wouldnt run this as it may crash your comp at worst)
* start_minimal.sh (as it says, its a minimal startup, no dungeons but will start lampp and jakarta)
I've set the image to 2GB RAM 1 CPU, please adjust accordingly to your spec (mine originally was 5GB RAM 2CPU as I have a dualcore CPU and 8GB RAM)
All I ask that if you spread this release, please credit it to me :thumbup: and please feel free to rip bits out and add bits in if you feel confident (just remember to have a backup)
Remember, if you learn how to fix the iweb and any other bits in this release POST IT dont just leech and keep quiet :thumbdown:, I did this so we all could learn :wink:
So Enjoy :thumbup:

Adding/Removing GMs and Adding CubiGold
Use the excellent BatGM v0.08a by adslpredator Originally found on MMORPG Dev
http://www.mmorpg-devs.com/forum/showthread.php?t=894
I reupped it so you dont have to register to DL it
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WGXZPKUY
you will have to allow BatGM to Access the Mysql database so do the following..
In phpmyadmin (after you have logged in as root) select your database (dbo) then select the privileges tab, once you have done that select "open new phpmyadmin window"
once that opens you should see the user overview page
1. select add user
2. add the following..
USER = root
HOST = IP of the comp that has BATGM on it
PASSWORD = Your Password
Retype Password = Your Password
Ignore Generate Password
3. now select for Database for user Grant all privileges on wildcard name (username\_%)
4. select check all
5. hit go
that will give you access to the MySql database from BATGM. :thumbup:
Errors found so far..
* 1HP/MP bug
To fix, simply edit the following file by typing this..
Code:
nano /PWServer/gamed/gs.conf
and changing this line
to
save and reboot server
* eth0 doesn't start
Edit the following file by typing this..
Code:
nano /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules
and change the line
Code:
SUBSYSTEM=="net", ACTION=="add", DRIVERS=="?*", ATTR{address}=="00:0c:29:68:9e:a3", ATTR{type}=="1", KERNEL=="eth*", NAME="eth0"
to
Code:
SUBSYSTEM=="net", ACTION=="add", DRIVERS=="?*", ATTR{type}=="1", KERNEL=="eth*", NAME="eth0"
and remove any line concerning eth1, once done, save and reboot server
To change SQL password
Code:
cd/opt/lampp/bin
./mysqladmin -u root -p password YOURNEWPASSWORD
it will ask for a password which you enter the old one which in this case it's
root
this new password will have an immediate effect so here are files to edit so PW still functions correctly..
/etc/tables.xml
change line
Code:
connection name="auth0" poolsize="3" url="jdbc:mysql://127.0.0.1/dbo?useUnicode=true&characterEncoding=utf8" username="root" password="root"/>
to
Code:
connection name="auth0" poolsize="3" url="jdbc:mysql://127.0.0.1/dbo?useUnicode=true&characterEncoding=utf8" username="root" password="YOURNEWPASSWORD"/>
/opt/lampp/htdocs/register/config.php
change line
Code:
$DBPassword = "root"; // Database password
to
Code:
$DBPassword = "YOURNEWPASSWORD"; // Database password
Also now you can access
http://192.168.0.51/phpmyadmin with the new password
Changing Root password
this is very easy, just type in the command whilst being logged in as root..
it will then ask you to type in a new unix password then ask again for you to type it in for verification..
oh and I dont do MSN support n stuff, any questions will have to go thru here sorry

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
in the directory /etc/udev/rules.d/ there is a file called 70-persistent-net.rules
edit the file so it changes from this..
Code:
# This file was automatically generated by the /lib/udev/write_net_rules
# program run by the persistent-net-generator.rules rules file.
#
# You can modify it, as long as you keep each rule on a single line.
# PCI device 0x1022:0x2000 (pcnet32)
SUBSYSTEM=="net", ACTION=="add", DRIVERS=="?*", ATTR{address}=="00:0c:29:68:9e:a3", ATTR{type}=="1", KERNEL=="eth*", NAME="eth0"
to this..
Code:
# This file was automatically generated by the /lib/udev/write_net_rules
# program run by the persistent-net-generator.rules rules file.
#
# You can modify it, as long as you keep each rule on a single line.
# PCI device 0x1022:0x2000 (pcnet32)
SUBSYSTEM=="net", ACTION=="add", DRIVERS=="?*", ATTR{type}=="1", KERNEL=="eth*", NAME="eth0"
then reboot the image..
Next time search the thread... jeez..

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
To make this available to people outside of your local area network, do you have to port forward 29000 to 192.168.0.51?
Or am I missing something?
I can't quite get it to work.
It works nicely locally, but can't seem to connect using my WAN IP.

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
to login, you have to enter root as login, and root as password.
to start the server (including web interface for creating accounts), you'll have to type
./start.sh for a full server (including all dungeons/arenas)
./start_minimal.sh for a limited server (only arenas and main map if i'm right )
I dont remember the command to stop server... should be ./stop.sh or ./stop_server.sh
-
Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
umm lol where i get the .sh files? and i switched to windows ubuntu wouldn't install vmware but i have all the same files i downloaded from here lol so if you could tell me on here or pm me telling me where to get the files (full repack with sh files) id be greatful and i cant enter the username and password it wont let me type it in
-
Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
if you have beastie's files (files downloaded from this thread), you have to login to the server itself, using linux command line interface(cf your screenshot), when you login as root, you'll get to your home directory, where the sh files are
or you can type cd to go to your home directory
-
Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^

Its ./stop_server.sh. Only problem is, it won't stop the server. Why? Because its trying to call /bin/killall which doesn't exist. Killall is located in /usr/bin/. I fixed it simply by creating a symlink, just go into /bin and type: link /usr/bin/killall killall. And then stop_server.sh will correctly stop the server.
Although frankly, I'd recommend learning how to actually use Linux before trying this. Just a couple quick command line tutorials would do the job. Also if VMware doesn't seem to want to enter keystrokes, just click the mouse on the spot with the text. That's what I had to do under Windows 7 (Windows 7 and VMware do NOT get along at all - I can't access the internet from the VM but I can still have people connect to the PWServer - it keeps trying to completely box in VMware).

If you're lucky, you can just do this. Boot the VM. At the prompts, try to enter "root" for username and "root" for password. Once booted, type: nano /etc/network/interfaces. Move the cursor down to the words "eth0" and change them to "eth1".
After that, hit CTRL-X and then "y". Then type: /etc/init.d/networking restart. This should get the networking set up properly.
After that, type: nano /PWServer/gamed/gs.conf, move down to the anticheat thing and change "true" to "false". Then hit CTRL-X and then "y". Next, type: ./start_minimal.sh. At this point the server should start up. If not, then it probably isn't getting the correct IP port and things get a little messy at this point.

Chances are your router/modem is doubling as a firewall and blocking all but specific incoming traffic. You'll need to read up its manual and enable port forwarding to the VM's IP for port 29000. If you want people to be able to register, you'll also need to forward port 80.

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
I have some questions:
1.The MySQL is already installed on the Ubuntu operating system within VMWare image?
2.Se is does that mean no need to change any configuration ip correct? Only IP of my computer that will access the server to play right?
3.Se MySQL is already installed in the operating system installed on Ubuntu VMWare image because when I use. / Start.sh gives error and GameDB connect failed, geliveryd talked to connect in GAuth.
4. How I Change the version of server from 1.3.1 to 1.3.6 for use itens of version 1.3.9?
not change anything in the VMWare image, only tried to boot sevidor and found the errors sitados above. Please someone knows how to resolve this?

* 1HP/MP bug
To fix, simply edit the following file by typing this..
Code:
nano /PWServer/gamed/gs.conf
and changing this line
to
save and reboot server
* eth0 doesn't start
Edit the following file by typing this..
Code:
nano /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules
and change the line
Code:
SUBSYSTEM=="net", ACTION=="add", DRIVERS=="?*", ATTR{address}=="00:0c:29:68:9e:a3", ATTR{type}=="1", KERNEL=="eth*", NAME="eth0"
to
Code:
SUBSYSTEM=="net", ACTION=="add", DRIVERS=="?*", ATTR{type}=="1", KERNEL=="eth*", NAME="eth0"
and remove any line concerning eth1, once done, save and reboot server
To change SQL password
Code:
cd/opt/lampp/bin
./mysqladmin -u root -p password YOURNEWPASSWORD
it will ask for a password which you enter the old one which in this case it's
root
this new password will have an immediate effect so here are files to edit so PW still functions correctly..
/etc/tables.xml
change line
Code:
connection name="auth0" poolsize="3" url="jdbc:mysql://127.0.0.1/dbo?useUnicode=true&characterEncoding=utf8" username="root" password="root"/>
to
Code:
connection name="auth0" poolsize="3" url="jdbc:mysql://127.0.0.1/dbo?useUnicode=true&characterEncoding=utf8" username="root" password="YOURNEWPASSWORD"/>
/opt/lampp/htdocs/register/config.php
change line
Code:
$DBPassword = "root"; // Database password
to
Code:
$DBPassword = "YOURNEWPASSWORD"; // Database password
Also now you can access
http://192.168.0.51/phpmyadmin with the new password
Changing Root password
this is very easy, just type in the command whilst being logged in as root..
it will then ask you to type in a new unix password then ask again for you to type it in for verification..
oh and I dont do MSN support n stuff, any questions will have to go thru here sorry
this i do not understand how to do lol im using vmware player like he said and this is all confusing lol

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
@EndyBH
MySQL is already installed on the VM, you should check ip configurations / db configuration if you have errors when trying to start the server
@glh290
The first part explains how to setup batgm (a tool that enables you to add gold / gm powers to player accounts)
second part is about errors you may encounter when playing... you can try to play before, and if you encounter these errors, then use the apropriate fix to correct it (just type the commands inside the virtual machine, after you have logon...
last part is more a security concern, if you want to make your server public, you should change your passwords...
ps: to check if eth0 starts, just type "ifconfig" without the quotes in the linux prompt, and then read... you should have 2 blocs of text describing your network interfaces, you should have one called "lo" and the other "eth0"
if you only have lo, then eth0 doesn't start ;)

Atomic-Fox, as the image of the Beastie I check what you told me in your previous message. Now I would like to use and ask a question. Even before downloading image posted this topic I had downloaded the files separate from the server 1.3.6 and tried to create the server using a video tutorial on vietinamita that utilize VMWare 6.5 + Perfect World Server 1.3.6 + Ubuntu 7.10 + server Microsoft SQL Server 2000. Configured everything according to the tutorial. appropriate boot the server with the command Start.sh it seems everything started, but when will start the gDeliveryd he gives an error saying: gDeliveryd:: Connect to GAuth Filied! Reconnecting ... What can be? My prayer that at the beginning of it starts the boot Authd perfectly. I am doing with attempts to Image posted by Beastie and I created my image even before downloading the image of the Beastie. I really want to make my private server.
Ah! One more question. Since MySQL is already installed on the VMWare image of Ubuntu, it could be the ip 127.0.0.1 or 192.168.0.51

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
if you want to build your own image, with a separate install of MSSL, it can be done (see colinux tutorials, everything about MySSL and the actual game server can be found here http://forum.ragezone.com/f452/guide...ctures-486602/ in the "old tutorial" section)
as for the IP, it can be 127.0.0.1 if your database server is installed in the same OS as the game server
if they are in separate OS, then use the IP of the MySSL server (or MySQL server)
If the 2 servers ar on the same OS... then 192.168.0.51 will work, as long as it is the server's IP

Yesterday again I tried to run VMWare server image posted by Beastie and saw that the principle it initializes the services, but he is repeating the same mistake, which took a Print Screen to show here in the forum. See below:
http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/4...oserver.th.jpg
This is normal. My server is initialized and is trying to looping connecter to any service that know? Or is it an error of some service was not started? How do I resolve this error? I have to leave early does not alter any setting in the image ip just put in my VMWare is started. If such looping is normal, how soon will start my server? to give the message: "All int

1.) open your /gdeliveryd/gamesys.conf
2.) find "battlefield=0"
3.) replace with "battlefield=1"
4.) restart your server =p

-
Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
I fixed the problem with an alternative solution.
Code:
nano /etc/network/interfaces
Change anything that says "eth0" to "eth1". Then save and run the following.
Code:
/etc/init.d/networking restart

Does anyone know if socket stones are in this release? I can't seem to find them with the element editor. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong version (MY-EN 1.3.1 patch 13)?
Edit: And yeah I searched for the equivalent of the name after checking PWDatabase. Haven't found "SkyCharm" either.

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
glh290,
Try type nano /etc/network/interfaces
and not
nano /ect/network/interfaces
the name of Directory is incorrect. Replace ect by etc.

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
I have some newbie questions. I've never used vmware before and I've never ran a perfect world server but I know basic bash commands .
So, I've mounted the image, started the server and then started Perfect World and failed to connect to my ip . I've edited server list .
And I have another question ... how can I upload files ? I've tried and failed connecting to my ip with putty.

Hi All,
Quote:
I set up my connection:
IP: 192.168.0.111
subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
default gateway: 192.168.0.1
when i connect to vmware, and type "ifconfig", it show that:
Quote:
inet: 192.168.0.51
Bcast: 192.168.0.255
Mask: 255.255.255.0
but when i try "netstat" and found that no port open, it's mean that can not connect to PWserver by WinSCP.
Could some one can run Pwserver on Ubuntu Server help me to setup this stept?
Best Rgds,
OppLa

Each virtual adapter does a different job. By default, VMnet0 is for bridged networks (which is what I use because of Windows 7 issues), VMnet1 is for host, VMnet8 is for NAT.

If you can access the server from your PC, then the virtual machine itself is running fine. What you'll have to do is look up the manual for your router for port forwarding. You'll want to forward ports 80 and 29000. We can't give you instructions on how to do this because each router handles it differently. You'll have to look it up either in a manual or just poke around in it until you find it (took me 20 minutes to find mine with a Verizon Westell router).

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
Hi all,
Finally, I found the way to connect with VMware, thank to beyastard for your simple tut.
Quote:
open Virtual Network Editor in VMWare (Edit > Virtual Network Editor...)
Select tab (Host Virtual Network Mapping)
VMnet1: click on > Subnet... and change to 192.168.0.0 / 255.255.255.0
in windows, go to the Network Connections to the VMware adapter you just edited.
right click > Properties
select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) then Properties
select Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically
in VMware edit virtual machine settings for Network adapter... set Custom > VMnet1
you should now be able to go to
http://192.168.0.51/register from host machine
- I registed and found my acc in MySQL

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
Hello staff, I have three questions where one exists.
1 - You like to put the items in the version 1.3.9 version 1.3.1 and 1.3.6 if you have 1.3.1 how to better pq server found more unstable, when installed the 1.3.6 update available on the server here this topic, the server is not unstable to work. So I repeat the question if you like to place the items in the version 1.3.9 and 1.3.1 on my server where I can find these files?
2-I had a problem in adcionar Cubi-Gold. I could not use the BatGM. It does not work. Then I tried the traditional method that is to call Stored Procedure in phpMyAdmin as follows: CALL usecash (48,1,1,1,50000,1,1, @ error);
He ran the script correctly, I login again and the cash was not credited, I log 10 minutes later and nothing in cash for the account. What's wrong? If the Stored Proedure ran
3-Run the Stored Procedure to create the GM, that does not come with level 150 and with weapons Dusk as seen once a user create GM. The longer it appeared to level 150 and Equips Dusk as he relogou. My GM that I created is still in initial levels. As the guys that are a feat of transformed char common in GM and he go to level 150?

Thank you very much Dragganta, you are absolutely right.
I change the version from "10301" to "10306" (my client) --> everything is oki <---> run good -
Thank Beastie for the super good server.
By the way, I have few more question, hope someone can help me:
- Normaly, when I zoom map, Alt & right click, it's should be have the green dot line and move my char to that location. But in here I can not: no green dot line and can not move.
- I dont know how to add cash to char
- I used tekk tools (v 2.0a) and china tool to edit "gshop.data", but those tool can open and read file but can edit and save the changing. Could someone have other tool to edit this file.
Many thanks.

If you're trying to get a URL using Windows' hosts file, forget it. Won't work. To allow people outside your home network to get access to your server, you need to enable port forwarding to the server.
After you've done that, go to www.ipchicken.com. The IP address you get there is the one you'll be giving people. If you want a URL, you'll need to go to www.dyndns.com and get one from there. I use a free one myself.
Note that by giving your IP address out you're effectively giving anyone your network's location and thus can potentially be opening yourself up to hackers. Not likely to be a problem though unless your server gets to a decent size. But its still good to warn people. Most routers have the ability to detect common attacks and try to counter them. But they have to be set to do so. My DSL router, by default, doesn't.

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
Hi,
I'm running a macbook pro booting windows.
Everything works fine, i boot the server in minimal and it says it's good, but i can't access the registration page. I haven't tried logging into the server as i haven't made an account.
I typed in ifconfig, and eth0 and lo are there.
I went into network preferences in windows XP, and went into the vmnet 8 adapter and set bridge to on and the autodetect IPs etc etc.
I'm not quite sure what the problem is with it... and i don't have another computer to test it on.
I went into the rules file and removed the part said in the first post, it's a no-go.
Any advice appreciated

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
I've a VERY noob question. First time trying to make a PW private server. Had made some Maple servers. Do i need to download VMware workstation to read all the files that i unite together? Cause I can't seem to read any of the files. Help needed here. Sorry for the trouble of asking such a noob question. Thx in advance.
