Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
Hi,
Sorry for my english i'm french ...
I have a little problem to run the server, i launch VMWare workstation 6.5.1 with the Image for PW Server, but, when i start it with minimal start, all gone right, but i can't connect at 198.168.0.51 ...
I'm on a Modem Box with forced Ip to 192.168.1.X ( neuf box, and i couldn't change That )
I have another little probleme, i can't modify some files like : /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules the server tell me "Permission Denied"
I uninstall VMware Workstatino and delete the IMG PW Server, ans try another time, but each time i have the problem... Cannot connect to 192.168.0.51 ans acces denied in some files...
An idea please ?
French :
Bonjour a tous,
Je vais donc expliquer un peu mieux mon probleme en francais au cas ou :
Donc j'ai installer le serveur sous VMWare Station 6.5.1 et malheuresement en lancant le serveur sur start minimal, je ne puis acc

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
If you can't configure your router for 192.168.0.x, then you'll need to reconfigure the entire server to be 192.168.1.51 instead of 192.168.0.51. To do that will take quite a while since the number is in a lot of different config files.
If you can, try contacting your ISP concerning your modem box and ask them how to change your LAN network numbers.

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
1. Download my tomcat folder: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WU82VABO
2. Download HFS: http://www.rejetto.com/hfs/?f=dl
3. Open HFS and just drag and drop my tomcat folder in the HFS window.
4. On your terminal as root and type:
5. Time to launch iweb now :ott1:
Code:
sh jakarta-tomcat-5.5.9/bin/startup.sh
6. Now... you can acces at http://YOUR-PWSERVER:8080/iweb
The login and password are stored in /usr/local/jakarta-tomcat-5.5.9/webapps/loginlistMGT.txt
Good luck ! :thumbup1:

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
My turn to try this server :-)
Server is running fine. Everything done step by step following the guides.
Patch for the server and configuring just like advised and also the client patched to version 1.3.1.
I got a small problem though. The server is not in the list after starting the client. It's like it's placed above the field where the server would normally appear.
Have a look at my screenshot ;-) What could i have done wrong here ?

Server is working now :-)
Anyone know how to add Stuff into ur GM char?
I red some other threads abhout it, but i don't understand what i have to do exactly with this VMware Server??
1. Use GShop Editor and Element Tool?
2. Is there a guide for it how to get it working ?
3. Does i have to put GShop and Element Tool Client or Serverside??
And edit the elements.data from Client or Serverside??
Pls help me a little bit, that wouldb be really nice if i can add stuff ingame.
I know there are several ways to put that in:
Put it in into a NPC ?
Put items into the Cubi Shop?
Put items directly to the Inventory?
Put items in inventory via GM commands (Ctrl+G)? -->That would be rlly nice if its working :w00t:

any ideas what to do?

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
Server is working fine here. Clients can connect inside my LAN.
I still got a problem to make the server visible from the WAN side.
Since my knowledge to VM ware is limited ( first time i ever tried it ), i might have configured the networking part wrong.
I use the bridge connection, and i didn't changed any ip, it's still 192.168.0.51 .
My Router has ip 192.168.1.1 - (Zyxel NBG460N).
Now the funny part is, that when i put my WAN ip and / register , i get the registrationpage of the server. That should normally not happen.
From outside you just get " page not found " error.
I also get the registration site with the LAN adress http://192.168.0.51/register/ .
This is the first server giving me a hard time with the public part.
Anyone got an idea what i might have done wrong ?

When i start it with start_minimal.sh everything is near normal, execpt for talking to NPC. It takes about 10-20 Seconds till the talk menu opens.
If its started with start.sh the Server goes crazy when i log in. Extreme Lag, backzoning when i run, NPC talking starts more than a minute after clicking them and so on. You don

No, it doesn't work.
The problem is: I don't know exactly if the server is started...
If I start a server on a real linux distribution(suse,ubuntu,min,... doesn't matter...) there is always something like:
>>All shit done! Now start the game!<<
And if i start the VMware image with the server (doesn't matter if ./start.sh or ./start_minimal.sh)
it first seems to be allright but later >>All shit done! Now start the game!<< appears but funnily enough the list of commands is
going on..

(I had only one second to get this screenshot)
What's wrong?
NO, I couldn't find anything like that in the threads before!:?:
Hope someone can give me a good advice.
Thanks a lot in advance!

I'm with a problem.. i've created my pw server with colinux/fedora.. everything was going awsome... the sv was online... but when i tryied to login in my server, A message box pops out, saying "Server under maintance, log in later"
Please What should I do??
I'm literally going insane....

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
@rogan12 You said it appears above the dialog box right? Try this:
RealmName 29000:ServerIpHere 13
-edit within c:/program files/YOURPERFECTWORLDINSTALLITIONFOLDER/element/userdata/serverlist.txt also make sure you edit the currentserver.ini within /element/userdata. (with your server ip and name)
@dragganta
if your talkin about ingame I don't think there is a way. I've GMED on my friends pserver (who I haven't seen in a while) and the only way to broadcast on the server was through the GM console. We couldn't find a way to use GM commands from the chat window. PW's only real shortcoming is the GM commands...they are too few, not to extensive, and extremely limited.
To anyone who can help my noob self:
Ive tried 3 different servers and cant get any to work. Farthest i got was with totmans server repack but I failed miserably with that one too. I can't really figure this out and need some help.
Ok well I'm gettin some issues that just wort work themselves out after spending hours in VMWARE (I use VMWARE Player). First of all, I did all the edits that are at the beginning of this thread. I run my own little network via a 10/100 switch. I want to play this on my desktop which is kick ass, and use my crappy lappy to run the server.
As for the issues, I cannot link to the register page. 192.168.0.51 failed both locally (on the laptop within windows xp sp3) and on my other computer (also running windows XP sp3)
I also get the error that says err:cannot connect to gauth.
It laces itself throughout the output after I ./start_minimal.sh
I don't know how to fix it.
Also I don't know how to change the configs for the cpu/ram settings. I have a junky little Intel Pentium D @1.73 ghz dualcore w/ 2 gigs ram. The OS runs pretty minimally (about 170 megs no apps loaded) from some tweaks I've done. The server seems to freeze trying to load, altho my resource reports indicate I'm not even using half a gig...:(
My laptop also has Ubuntu 9.04 Desktop 32bit edition installed. I was wondering if it would be eaiser to run it via that? If so do you have a guide?
Do you have any suggestions?
-
Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
I also get the error that says err:cannot connect to gauth.

Sry, but what does that exactly mean? Is that the same problem I have?
That the server don't stop at: All shit done! Now start the game!
And isn't connectable?:?:

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
@Hemer,
Verify the first post of Beastie. There are have how fiz this problem. You gonna change a configuration of Ethernet Adapter in the linux. You gonna make this change:
Quote:
eth0 doesn't start
Edit the following file by typing this..
Code:
nano /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules
and change the line
Code:
SUBSYSTEM=="net", ACTION=="add", DRIVERS=="?*", ATTR{address}=="00:0c:29:68:9e:a3", ATTR{type}=="1", KERNEL=="eth*", NAME="eth0"
to
Code:
SUBSYSTEM=="net", ACTION=="add", DRIVERS=="?*", ATTR{type}=="1", KERNEL=="eth*", NAME="eth0"
And other question, if your computer have 4GB of RAM, you can?t initialize the server withi "./start.sh" this initialization require minimal 5GB of memory RAM, so your PC gonna 8GB of RAM. in cases in than the PC have 4GB of Memory RAM use "./start_minimal.sh" the image already come 2GB RAM, you can Change, but verify your memory Physical. I hope have helped you. sorry for my English. not have much practice, I'm Brazilian.

thank you so much man!
Thats the thing I needed.
But is there anything I have to do after that to can connect to:
or
(http://192.168.0.51/register/)
?
Does that have to with my IP?
all of my IPs are like 192.168.178.X
Is it possible to change the server so that it have an IP starting with
192.168.178.X ?

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
An update to my fail.
I have managed to get the server to output the register page to windows LOCALLY. I CANNOT connect to it over my network. I use a small 10/100 8 port switch to connect all of my computers together.
I decided to run this on my desktop and play on my desktop (until I find a way to run it via LAN. I don't want to put it up on the internet due to having a lack of it in the first place.
Now my issues are these.
I have edited the server.txt and current server.ini within the PW client folder to:
Reality 29000:192.168.0.51 11 and the .ini to the same (save for the 11). I have patched my client with 2-6, 6-12 and 12-13. My client reports in @ v1.3.1. I open up the client and still cannot see the server, even after it has been loaded. I am able to connect to the reg page and phpmyadmin, altho only locally.
My pc's ethernet in windows is 192.168.0.100 and the subnet is 255.255.255.0.
I have left all of linux's ips alone. I have edited the VMware VMNET1 to 192.168.0.0 and subnet 255.255.255.0 and done that custom edit that someone posted somewhere in this thread. I also edited VMNET8 to 192.168.79.0 and set it to DHCP within windows. I still cannot connect my client into the server. It shows up in the list but there are blanks through the connection speed like this:
Reality ---- ----
I tried to log in once and it waited 40 seconds before saying unable to connect. The rest of the other times it waits one then says cannot connect to server.
Ive also managed to get iweb working due to already having the sofag repack (couldn't work that server either...same issue in fact....)
I have placed elements.data and gshop into the client folder as instructed as well.
My laptop cannot detect the server outside of my computer, for registerpage or phpmyadmin. I cannot even ping it. I can however ping it on my desktop (which runs the server).
Am I having an id-10-t error? Please help!

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
@Hemer
I believe that iweb is used to change server rates. You'll find instructions to get it up and operational Here
To everyone else..
I've managed to get the server to work and It was indeed an ID-10-t error that I was having. My NIC card was on a different netmask than the VMWare1 adapter. I managed to get that working oddly enough. More of a lucky guess than anything.
I am however stumped on how to get the server to work over LAN. It works locally on the server, some edits to the start
_minimal.sh were required to get the cultivation dungeons up and running. I have a laptop that I am ultimately hoping to get to host the server, and free up about 2.5 gigs of ram on my computer. I forget the IP's I set on my NICS to get the desktop to work with the network I have and VMWares network. their either 192.168.32.x or 192.168.0.x. I can have both of my computer communicate with each other, but my laptop cannot see the PW server. Any suggestions?
Also working on writing a guide that will simplify this entire process. It'll include all links needed to info inside this thread, as well as instructions to get VMWare working. Dunno how long it's gonna take as my access to internet is minimal at best.

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
Glad I could help. However I've done some research (look in page 7 of this thread) and apparently you need a specific java to get Iweb to work. Unfortunatly I cannot obtain it as I do not have internet connected to my computer that hosts the server. But I'm trying to get it to work by downloading java 5.0 something or other.

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
@Hemer
Inside data.rar within the server image that you downloaded (the one with all the VMWare files inside) there is a gshop.data and an elements.data. You want to extract those and place them within %pw install path%\elements\data
youll see files called air policy and elements.data and junk in there. just drag and drop the files from data.rar into this folder. click yes when the prompt asking if you would like to replace the files appears. It should work fine after that. As for adding cubi gold, the BATGM has been reported to have some issues. I don't remember where, but somewhere in this forum there are instructions on how to add gold. The command is something like usecashnow (zoneid, userid, 1, 10000) <----don't use that its just a reference.
Use that to search for the actual command. there are instructions on where to go within phpmyadmin (login user root login pass root assuming you left all the passwords alone when you were configing the server)

Thats the java dir from my old server files that had the working iweb, in case you guys ever need them.
I don't recall the version that was needed, so I just did that.

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
I give a thumbs up to this release, thanks so much for putting the time to put this image together and documenting further discussion / fixes on the first post so that everything is in one place for getting this up and running. Going point by point from the start, I had this up and running in less than 30 minutes after downloading everything.
Question for the peeps that are running the full starting script - what kind of CPU / Memory are you giving this? On a 2.8GHz 820D (dual core pentium 4) it doesn't "look" like it has issues running - CPU averages about 40%, 60 on one core and around 30ish with some minor flux on both, and it appears to be running... but it's SLOOOOOW and I can't ever seem to log in + it lags on the console even when shutting down / rebooting the virtual server. Maybe it's wanting a CPU with native virtualization support...

What you think, whould it be more easily to run it on an real Linux distribution?
I'm not shure. I'm very confused of Colinux.
But I hate the fact that if I run it on an real linux distribution
I only have to run a second computer to chek if it works correctly.
What u think?

i think in Colinux more easier because u just need to install linux like ubuntu or fedora in Colinux, after that copy server files n setup server like u setup in vmware.
Colinux not so hard, i will make tutorial when i got some free time if u want.

i don't know what this image got but i think u need to change some ip in server, configure database (mysql or mssql), it's got alot of work to make it connect with the client.
The most important, u need to read guide to make ur server running, u can't play after mount that image n install pw
i hope this will help u....

i did what is in the first page ( or at least a part of it xD )
so let's start from the begining... i did this:
1. Formated my pc cause i had vista 64 bits and ssql 2000 can't be installed on it..
2. Installed xp professional sp3 and the ssql 2000 still can't be instaled -.-.. there is an error when its gonna start to install it..
3. bored and desperated.. i come here and see this post...
4. i have downloaded the image of the server and imported it into VMWARE workstation 6.5.1 exactly..
5. Started it..
6. Logged as root / root
7. there is a black screen like in windows dos xD
8. all i see is that.. (there is a mode to change to graphic mode? xD)
9. Installed PW MY/EN (after look for it in all the possible cd's i have xD
10. applied patchs 2- 6 6-12 12-13.
now i dont know what to do lol xD maybe some screenshots with the configuration, from a very good veteran can iluminate my way and the way of many others xD

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
to start the server there is 2 files
* start.sh (this will start a FULL server including all dungeons etc.. if you dont have the RAM I wouldnt run this as it may crash your comp at worst)
* start_minimal.sh (as it says, its a minimal startup, no dungeons but will start lampp and jakarta)
well.. where are those files...
and how to edit the files he said, cause i can't,. all i get is a bunch of letters and some descriptions on top... :'(

LINK error
First off: I'd like to THANK and give props (credit) to Beastie for this release. I've followed all instructions and am able to get this thing running. Albeit slow, but I am able to run VMWare with the MINIMAL server with 796 MB ( xD ) allocated to my test server. When I run my client (correctly patched, etc.), I receive a "Link error with server and network." What does this mean? How can I correct this?
Info: P4 2.4GHz with 1G RAM (no comments necessary, I know it sux)
I can run my browser and Register AND use phpMyadmin. I can even run BatGM and get connection/info/etc. When I run my client, I select server and see that I average (several attempts) 266 ms access to my server. On this "little test box," I am running VMWare, Firefox, BatGM, and PW Client. I can ping back and forth with no problems, just slow. Any ideas on correcting this "Link error" would be greatly appreciated.

you have to watch your pwserver logs while you get this error :p
can have alot of reasons.. mainworld not loaded.. some game deamon. or just problem with sql .. w/e.
most good informations you can get from authd.log .. and watch if you see errors while mainworld is starting ;)

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
ok here i am... AGAIN xD
i finally made this work.. and was easiest than i taught. lol
Thanks Beastie for your release.. i have tested it with the minimal server and zero problems.. in fact i used multiclient to do full party.. and banned me for use multiclient.. LOOOL xD..
at night i'll try with the full server and see what happens :P
just 1 more thing... when i start... it has exp rate higher... how can i set up it to 1x, or even 8000x ?
Second. with the batgm i made my char a GM.. and i used some GM power... (like events, and create monster), the question is.. Is there a way to add Objects?, i mean.. like weapons, armors, and those stuff.. cause when i click on Create Objects in GM console.. it has a menu with options but is for create monsters too ( right click on the object delivered and appear a mob, boss, ) but i want to add Objects... tried with the ID from pwdatabase.com but where must i add it on the GM console?
Third.. Modificate initial lvl?, initial skills and cultivation? :P

I just ran into the same problem today:

Go to the above site and DL: 2-6 , 6-12 , 12-13
I can vouch that this does indeed work "right out of the box" =D

If you can, try contacting your ISP concerning your modem box and ask them how to change your LAN network numbers.
If for any reason you want or have to change the *local* IP of the PWServer here is the list of files you must modify. Keep in mind you must go through the entire files, and make sure to change all of the 192.168.0.51's - to whatever you want/need it to be:
/etc/network/interfaces
/etc/hosts
/etc/authd.conf
/PWServer/authd/etc/authd.conf
/PWServer/gamed/gmserver.conf
/PWServer/gamed/gs.conf

/PWServer/gamedbd/gamesys.conf
/PWServer/gamedbd/cashstat.conf
/PWServer/gfactiond/gamesys.conf
/PWServer/uniquenamed/gamesys.conf
I understand the post I quoted was from a while ago, but I myself wanted to change my PW servers local IP due to not wanting to change all the other equipment on my network. Having not seen a list like this put together (sorry if there is, my eyes burn from fingering through all 33 pages of PW stuff today) I figured I would throw it out there =) I hope it makes someones day ;)
in "/etc/network/interfaces" there is more to change than just the IP, but I am assuming if you're attempting to perform this you have basic networking knowledge, and will know what to do (netmask, network, broadcast,& gateway).

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
ive got the right client, but it wants to update i changed the sverlist.txt to LocalHost 29000:192.168.0.51 11
so i used zone alarm to block its update server access. i can start the client but in the ping place on local host server listing i got ---- ---- no pings and the http://192.168.0.51/register/ in web browser will not connect to the server.
so far i can get the server running in your vm set up but cannot connect to it via registering or anything for that matter. ive read most all posts here and used search with no success on solving this for me.

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
Code:
so i used zone alarm to block its update server access.
rofl... there is a simple way to block this.
Go in your client folder (i.e: C:/Program Files/Perfect World/patcher/server)
Then edit the file 'updateserver.txt', delete all data and copy/paste this new data,
Code:
"patch" "http://localhost/CPW/"
Save it and it's done! The patcher will never try to connect on official server after this :]
and rofl again...
You must need to configure the gamesys.conf in the glinkd folder too,
Code:
nano /PWServer/glinkd/gamesys.conf
Code:
[GLinkServer1]
type = tcp
port = 29000
address = Server's IP (i.e: 192.168.0.51)
so_sndbuf = 12288

http://192.168.0.51/phpmyadmin
Do i need to change my computers lan connection ip im using a router but i have disconnected it and still has this problem. BTW im using a static ip (tcp/ip config) maybe this is the issue?
Netstat -n image on main pc + vm
http://i555.photobucket.com/albums/jj461/erndog/th_sigh.jpg
This part is correct from start but i checked it to make sure...

Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
i think there is a mistake in your vmware network configuration.
try to type,
And see if the vm can ping google...
If not... then check your vmware network configuration and interfaces.
Note: The vm must be adapted to your network and not your network to be adapted for the vm...
vm = slave
your network = master

lol im kinda a newbie but i dont understand what phpmyadmin is, so confusing everyones saying login as root and use phpmyadmin i have vm ware and im kinda confused, should i download it or something?
-
Re: Perfect World 136 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server VMware Image by Beastie ^^
phpmyadmin is a php based interface for manage a mysql server.
and you don't need to download anything if you are using the beastie's vm image because pma is already in the package.
