Well... it doesn't really matter since people that can even figure that out would be able to modify the client anyway only way to guarantee they don't modify the client would be to create a small little applet that takes the hash of several files in the client encrypts it in someway so they can't just send it right to the server with a 'fake' applet and have it run when the client starts you could also even have it setup so that if the server isn't getting proper data from it all the time it autoboots you from the server
Doing that though can be pointless though seeing as anyone that knows what they are doing could get around that there is no surefire way to guarantee they can't modify the client. Which is why whenever I develop something that is client/server I basically follow the rule 'never trust the client' make the server do as much as it can to prove the client is guilty of being modified rather then believing the user is a saint that would never touch it

New Features
- chinese filenames inside pck archives are now base64 encoded (this prevents problems on OS with different text encodings...)
- creating archives is now a bit easier: drag and drop the folder with the new files onto patcher.exe and it will create the patch *.xup (7z ultra) automatically for you...
- for details check the updated v1.1 documentation
patcher.exe "C:\ec_patch"
not work, it only showing flash cmd window and disapear, no Xup created.
i try with drag and drop over patcher.exe still not work, and i'am using last version sPatch and with .Net_framework.4
it try at windust XP and Windust 7, still not work for makeing XUP file:?:
btw why you remove manual update?
it will realy usefull for a small server, like mine:blushing:
Re: sPATCH - Auto Patcher
Same for me it doesn't work but I use sPCK+sza instead. sza is the compression library from 7zip.
Download: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11797022/sPCK%2Bsza.zip
COMMAND:
I assume that "element" folder is where are your patch files. Not the one from your game!
EDIT: Noticed that the created patch will be at the root of your Disk...

Re: sPATCH - Auto Patcher
Are you sure?
Btw there is another command:
Code:
spck -xp ec_patch_402-463.cup
Used to extract and decode the patch files from PWI's CUP patches.

No.
You need to create a CPW patch then compress the files with pwpack2008.
How to make a CPW server:

- sPATCH doesn't require .NET
- i've tested the create xup option and it works fine with drag and drop
- hint: use console or a .bat file (with a PAUSE command at the end) to create the patch so you can read the commandline output
- *.xup files can be opened by 7-Zip
- don't use spck directly, it will mess up path, it was designed to work with sPATCH and not as standalone xup creator

ohhh my mistake, it can't created xup, because file folder have long name's, that's way it only flasing and gone.
now it works
:D:
and realy easy only drag and drop
thx alot ronny, i think more better using this spatch than the other tool's.
btw why you remove the manual update?
Re: sPATCH - Auto Patcher
For those having the same issue:
1. Create a "temp" folder on the root of your disk
2. Put the sPatch folder in it.
3. Put your "ec_patch_0-1" folder (with all your patch files) inside the sPatch folder.
4. Drag and drop the "ec_patch_0-1" folder on the patcher.exe
5. Tada it works!
Btw, I use sPatch for development only. CPW is a way more professional than sPatch to me.
sPatch = when I need to fix some files and quickly test ingame
CPW = when I release a patch for my players

Apache/2.2.12 (Ubuntu) Server at 192.168.1.176 Port 80
I have patch_server=http://192.168.1.176/patcher/ in the patcher.ini file
Everytime I try run the patcher it says cannot find update server
I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. I have tried with .8a and 1.1 patchers
Re: sPATCH - Auto Patcher
the problem lies in the .SW server side
You HAVE to have VERSIONS.SW on the server (ex: in /htdocs/patcher)
Re: sPATCH - Auto Patcher
It is there also, sorry forgot to post about it lol
1=patch1.xup Thats my versions.sw and my patch is named patch1.xup

weird, make sure it IS "versionS.sw" on the server side... Last person I remember helping that was the problem
Client side it is VERSION.SW
Server side it IS VERSIONS.SW (versionS.sw)
