    [WEB] Pokemon Unique

    Hello there guys,

Since I have a hard time being motivated I forced myself to post a topic with news/updates here on the forum.

May it either be for us to discuss ideas, or me to get this project finished and able to share it with you guys.

    Anyway, something about the project.

    The Idea
The main idea of this project is to build a browser based pokemon game. (Took the idea from Pokemon Area/Pokemon Sky)
This browser based game will be build using PHP/jQuery/Javascript/MySQL in an OOP kind of way. It should also be playable on mobile/tablet since a lot of people seem to head this way.

    Screenshots
(Home page - Will be adjusted)

    (Introduction)
    http://prntscr.com/6fj5xu

    What is done?

    Since I've recently started, and since OOP takes a lot of time to configure regarding building classes/controllers etc, the only functionality that I've finished so far is;

    - Registering
    - Logging in

    What can we expect?
    The things I hope to achieve are pretty much all the functionality you would need with your basic pokemon browser kind of game. Couple of examples are;
    - Obtaining pokemon
    - Training pokemon
    - Pokemon evolving
    - Pokemon eggs/etc
    - Trading
    - Slots, etc

    Classes
    - users (99%) Guess it could always get new values.
    - pokemon_owned (100%)
    - pokemon_wild (100%)
    - pokemon_attacks (90%)
    - pokemon_attack_log (0%)
    - items (90%)
    - effects (90%)
    - user_ranks (90%)
    - pokemon_benefits (90%)
    - pokemon_experience (90%)
    - pokemon_level (90%)

Of course if you have any ideas, or things you would love to see, let me know.
Once I get the basic functionality done of having you first pokemon/being able to train it, I will consider making this open source.

Anyway, I hope this sounds appealing!

Good luck, are you making it with media tags so that you can easily play on a mobile (since the current things like register, log in and intro are very small on a large screen)?

Plus your design reminds me of wordpress.

Thank you for the reply, I appreciate the feedback, I can show you a screenshot on my resolution: 1920x1080

In my opinion this still is a decent size, and it's only for the introduction/reg and login. The part where you're actually logged in (Being able to see your pokemon, money, house, etc, will be visualised like an admin panel. (Will probably look like wordpress. haha.)

I will jump into the boat when a repository comes there with a good structured and secure base source.

If with that you mean you'll contribute, that's appreciated. I'm trying to make it as secure as possible, and of course will have people look at it / play with it once it's close to being finished.

Currently as an update, I'm working on the pokemon controller "pokemon_owned", taking most of the values from the old area database, adjusting them, etc. I haven't played pokemon in a long time so, I kind of don't know the values out of my head just by playing the old school versions. Later on, if I got the functionality, and algorithms as I see fit, I might adjust a lot of it again whether it can be programmed differently.. but who knows.

Well,I have ideas on how you can make a mobile version that I can share. (plus if you use media tags you won't need to redirect the user, it will resize according to the screen size of the user). I'm not brilliant in PHP, but I know my way around it little bit and can give you a hand if you need so.

Ah, well that is kind of you, I'll definatly consider your request. With that, trying to keep the code as clean as possible so you can have your way around with it. I'll make it as close to desktop/mobile as I can using bootstrap. Other than that, I'm fairly new to mobile "apps".

    Re: [WEB] Pokemon Unique

    Haven't posted or updates this thread in a while, but I'd like to mention that I'm working on the controllers/classes mostly, so far done are the following classes;

    - users (99%) Guess it could always get new values.
    - pokemon_owned (100%)
    - pokemon_wild (100%)
    - pokemon_attacks (90%)
    - pokemon_attack_log (0%)
    - items (90%)
    - effects (90%)
    - user_ranks (90%)
    - pokemon_benefits (90%)
    - pokemon_experience (90%)
    - pokemon_level (90%)

With this come the database values so..

Also been sick for some time so couldn't really work on this.

PS: Came up with the idea to make a specific owner/admin panel that allows owners of the mmo to adjust everything. From pokemon, to users, to items, to text, etc.

    Re: [WEB] Pokemon Unique

I've been going through the database of Pokemon Area (Sky?) and I've been bothered by the amount of data that it contains. I've been adding most of it since I'm unsure what it's used for, but I'll remove it later on if I think it's useless or if I can do it in a better way.

I've come to user_items, and I wonder whether you guys think this is a good solution.

Currently the database has a column for each item.. which means if you'd wanted to add custom content being an item (For example super mega awesome HP potion, just making up something.) You would have to create an entire new column.

    http://i.gyazo.com/5b88d5b08a7380eaba84dec5e32f1602.png

    I'm thinking of doing it like this;

You will keep the id of course as a key and unique value (user id) with that comes the box of what you're able to hold. and after that, the item.

The item values will look like this; "Full Heal", 1;"Ultra Ball", 5; etc etc you get the point. (Itemname, amount;Itemname, amount;)

    Any ideas?

I think the way area uses to save users item's is properly solved, you should take it over.

That would mean if I would want to display items in an inventory, I would have to grab all the columns the entire time, instead of being able to use a decent array..

(Maybe not all the time if I create a class) but still, it would mean that if an user wants to add a new item, he would have to adjust the source, and add the column in the class..

Small update, I thought of starting with the admin panel, since I'll have all basic functionality regarding functions and stuff through this.

When I get to display most of the database tables, and with that the functionality to edit and delete, I'll continue on the begin part of pokemon unique

Admin panel is close to being done, with that, all the data regarding items/pokemon/attacks, etc.

Next step as mentioned before, is making it able to choose your first pokemon, and getting envolved in a tutorial battle with prof oak.

Better focus on the main thingys before spending weeks on the battle engine.

I could do the battle engine part..
