Make sure the database backup is not corrupted.

Yes sir i have made sure that it isn't, i have tried several database backups but i still get that error.
I was suspicious about the OS i use because it is a trimmed down version of windows XP. maybe i'll try to install it to another PC.

you should check the directory where the data will be restored
