Use your Item Editor..... on the Shape of field..choose the dds file, place the coordinates of the icon on the X and Y..

you might wanna use your DDS viewer to view which icon you want to use..

How to set the correct icon for your item

This picture shows the commercialset.dds file
mike915 - [HELP] About Weapon Putting A icon - RaGEZONE Forums

As you can see, the icons are placed on a table like structure with
COLUMNS (marked as blue numbers) and ROWS (marked as red numbers)
We will use this numbers later to locate our icon

Open your ITEM editor and locate this part

This example shows an icon of the
EMERGENCY LOCKER LINK CARD

mike915 - [HELP] About Weapon Putting A icon - RaGEZONE Forums

Inventory size: refers to the number of slots that our item will occupy (default is 1, 1)
Inventory icon: refers to the coordinate of our icon (box 1 refers to the column number while box 2 refers to the row number)
Shape of inventory: the source file (DDS files) of the icon

Now from the above example, we want to set the icon for Emergency Locker Link Card
So we selected column 10(box 1) and row 1(Box 2) to be that icon
