Why do we need to put a password on glogic

Hello guys, I'm wondering why do we need to put a password to our glogic glogicserver level or other rcc's. And why do we need to pack a game.exe? Can we run a private server without packing game.exe and use a original data files? Why do we need to protect it? and put a password?

Yes you can just leave it unpacked. Some developers and server owners were packing it up or encrypting it to prevent others from stealing their development. Maybe they can still steal it in some point but they will be having a hard time to do it. It's also a matter of security for the server side and client side. Which also prevent the players to alter some client datas and so on. Too many factors to consider but for me encrypting and packing is the best based on my experience. But before all that i run my server (Beta Test and Official for by about 1-2 weeks) unpacked and decrypted, BUt when i saw other server with almost the same feature and developed feature i made that's why i decided to encrypt it to stop the copying.
