Gs editing

Hey guys , i am back for a while since i discovered that 1.4.4 is here also , now im trying to help a friend who want something that i think will not work , but we will see, so here it is :
WE already know that Instant cast its a stupidity and no one like, we already know that u cant pass -99 Casting , but what we dont know , is : Why when i put a simple item , wich cant reach instant cast , the speed dont grow up , i already know to redownload from other sources, but that doesnt work , also when we make a Ring lets say , and equip it ,nothing happen to the casting time , i didnt created something special or something that can give bug , its a simple HH ring , though of that , casting its same as the LVL1 player .
We tryed to start the Gs STUDY but we arent sure where , or wich name we can look for this casting problem , lets say they did Recap the -99 , and instant , my noob suposition is that , the recape edit is in GS rite? if so , where can be ?
Hmm and he just called me to add 1 more question : If he want , lets say to make an own map , what tools are good for this ? I personaly didnt find a thread to solve this , so i supose we can discuss here about this 2 problems.

Well firstly lol, this should be in 1.4.4 section. Not ouside 1.3.6 and 1.4.4

secondly, idk I have not been in 1.4.4 insta cast. But if I remember right you can edit it (maybe) in gs. Tell me if im wrong.

ups , once game i missed the thread Spot lol , i always do that :( , anyway , i know from another thread that it is in GS , but problem is that , ,,, in gs are 1000 lines , and no one rly say : casting time or something like that , i know it would be harder , but if anyone have a tip, idea, opinion , suposition , im sure il find it and post it back .

And, if by Lines you mean ASM mnemonics, then there are way more then 1000 :)

so , when i open the GS with the IDA, It ask me to choose how to open the gs in 2 ways : Binary filles and Elf files , did rly matters which option i choose? or ? i mean the casting time its in Elf type or Binary type ?
About gs, can i use 1.3.6 on 1.4.4 server? so i can have 1.4.4 but also gs from 1.3.6 ? or ?
cause we did that also , but gives errors on files.data .

Before you do ANYTHING further - learn at least the basics about reversing. The server binarys are written for linux, hence they are compiled in ELF, which is the base for the WinPE format. So yes, it does matter...

Map editing - reverse hmap\wmap\ecwld... all of those files structures and write an editor for them.

Thing like skills and properties are not in the area of code that IDA can read.
They are stored in objects compiled in with the GS. You will struggle to modify anything except mana use, range, maybe cooldown.

As for map editing, its alot easier to take an existing map and modify it.
We have parsers for t2bk, t2lm, t2lm1, bmd and .dat by Ronny and a few others.

I started on an editor for ecwld and ecbsd files using the original source code but its a long way off as there are bits missing.

aha , iv asked a friend, hes dealing codes and stufs like that for a company , he sayed maybe its a cc++ language, but he asked me what should be the name for the line , chanelling , casting time ? or ?
thx for the Map explication , i would do that, abd about ida and Gs ,if Ida cant read , cc++ can read? or what else can read a GS file ?

Being a former level-designer [mapper] for various FPS games, I would LOVE the day we could create our own maps from scratch for PW ! Though I am no programmer, so I could surely not make, or even help, create the necessary editors

hey guys, after a long thinking and loooking around , i am wondering, this MapEdits , that Rob was speaking around ,are just for Server side ? or also for Client side? cause if they are by server side , how il add them to client side? As u already guys know i am not a pro man , creating editors , so anyone got a editors ? and if Ronny and others have them ( for client side) , can u pls link it Here?:)

Debugger - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Disassembler - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I can personally say, I know jack and shit about these subject(s) myself. I think I would be more interested in learning programming (in the "normal direction"), opposed to "reverse-engineering" ...
