Give the DNS to people who want to connect (they'd use it instead of your wan ip).

portforward the game port and website port. Don't know about 1.4.4, but for 1.3.6 it's 29000 and 80. If your LAN IP changes, you'll need to reconfigure it. You'll also probably need to use a bridged connection (set it in what ever virtual machine software you use).

It's the same ports i use for 1.4.4, there's an excellent guide on the 1.3.6 forums by Hemer i think, give it a search and you'll be up and running in no time.
