    I wonder how people feel knowing they spend like $4000 on a few lines of hex data <.<

    Just to think about that, even if you're filthy rich, just seems like such a damn waste >.>

    Sadly most of their updates are pure crap (in my opinion), which is why I quit. They talk the talk, but they don't walk the walk. Even this new "Sirens of War" I hear about (yes, never played it; I un-installed my official PWi client about 6 mos ago) just sounds like a FAIL attempt at copying not only WoW but GW2, or somehow a 'cross' in between. I mean seriously, "capture the flag" between interservers. What would make it fail to me (no matter what anyone says) is the fact that yet again PW has done nothing to cater to people who have different schedules, and JUST like TW I hear the new "war" feature is AGAIN at a specific 'server time' only. Well that right there is a huge FAIL to me, when you can step in to GW2 and WvW some pretty epic wars that happen ALL WEEK LONG... So you can participate no matter what your personal schedule is

    Sorry, PW fails pretty hard IMO, now anyways (don't get me wrong I was hooked since they opened their doors until about 6 mos ago)... I think in all honesty they made "reflections" to "boost their numbers" too. I wouldn't doubt their numbers of online people started to decline, so in order to boost em back up they offered the players "AFK EXP" (when as I've stated before, I think it's a pretty bad idea to INVITE your players to stay connected to your servers while they're going to be AFK. That is a pure *waste* of your servers/resources)... ... ... So what better way to boost your numbers back up? Invite your players to stay connected while they're AFK, you'll even give 'em EXP for it

    Now that all that garbage is out of the way. They do not have to wait to be bankrupt to 'sue'...

    They're a large corporation, aslong as they keep their declared risks under control (this doesn't include private servers which they do not recognise as a threat to their company) and online numbers/spent cash reports reasonably steady they can survive running a super old game forever whilst keeping themselves rich.

    It's just the investors that lose out as the game gets older and older, whilst the developers draw wool over their eyes with flashy new "revolutionary" designs and hazy statistics. Most of all they do not is just a ploy to act like they are still working to expand (like opening a film studio and purchasing other game design teams left, right and centre whilst declaring they have "opened an office" there such as in the case of the cube engine). It's classic capitalist tactics being announced in a very socialist propaganda style, without getting too political on china here.

    One interesting note though is that they have not designed their system to cope with over 134million user accounts. At the time of creation this probably seemed like a decent scope but, as I found in one of the comments in their server-side scripts, they already have atleast 72million created accounts at wanmei. It's very similar to the ipv4 problem and to fix it would require recoding of every single one of their games (even the ones from outside of beijing), I think when this comes in 5-6 years they will simply decide its not worth the investment and either close their old services and update the new ones or, if they have not made any new services in 2017-2018, they would just close.

    Thats just my analysis and prediction anyway...

    No matter what, in the end, all things must come to an end... ... ...

    It's just a matter of, "when"?

    @robb :

    Could it have to do with the fact that they are slowly approaching MAX_UINT of their player IDs? If so, that'd be an easy fix imo.

    Yup basically, though I think they use signed integers for IDs as when an ID is unknown it gets reported as -1 (such as in the case of a GM messaging you or a mail sent from an unknown user).

    It's not a question of just rewriting all the millions of protocols in all the server daemons and clients though, you also have to think about how the data is stored in the databases. I can't even think of a way to solve that unless you either had a flag simply to identify whether the ID was expanded and converted on-the-fly or brought the database back to its basics and made a script to parse the blocks of hex data and increase the data size of every referenced ID in every record of every character (this would probably take days for the size databases official uses). Then you also have problems with all the jsp pages on their management system and website.

    And I can't even speak for the other games besides PW which all use the same basic authd/mysql database design for their IDs. Considering they only have a handfull of server programmers (we can see all their names in the certificates and comments) the cost to fix something like this would be huge.

    Though it would be very funny if they never saw this coming until it happened.

    Would indeed be funny (actually quite hilarious), unless they have anyone that reads these boards, then we just alerted them

    they are not simple stupid... they did make huge money... and i did almost make a business agreement with them once before they drop my business proposal for U$30mils shares - because they want more, they ask to raise up their share up to U$60mils at the end - and its override agreement that we made before i went to china to signing with them - fuck up - and yes they made everyone upset - especially my capital investor... and now i only care for what i and my community can play this thing without money, i have no issue with bandwidth and all resources required... tada...

    WTF are yu talking about? If you had $30mill you would not care about playing this "thing without money" and second. I doubt they raised so much their shares prices since PWI is listed under NASDAQ and that indicator is not raising that high (specialy after the Facebook faliure on stockmarket)
