@Jacknkife sorry sir im bad in english
what is the best version can i create ???
1.3.6 or 1.4.4 ??? (just asking)
THIS release is an 'add-on' to my 136 release. If you're "brand new" to servers you need to start with my release and learn based off of IT before trying anything such as this 'add-on' even!
Put it this way, if I was going to teach you how to drive a car, it certainly is not going to be in a Lamborghini, I'd roll you out in a normal sedan first! So, my advice, don't 'jump the gun'! You SHOULD be more interested in learning first and primarily! Then you can worry about bells and whistles later on.
Not to mention 144 is SHIT version anyway IMHO, 136 is when the game was at it's BEST![]()
Files downloaded the Server, it only came pwAdmin iweb and are incomplete.
Hello. I'm new here (obviously) and I'm working diligently on getting a server running for me and some friends. I've followed the advice found abundantly throughout this site: search, search, and search; through much trial and error over the past few days I've learned tons about how to use Linux (I'm a first-timer) and I've sifted through so many places
to find solutions for my hundreds of errors I've gotten along the way.
With 343's installation, I feel I've gotten closer than ever, and I plan to use Psytrac's 1.4.4 as an addon to that. But, I have one problem that my searching has not found a solution for, and I feel it is a problem specific to this file setup. I know the problem is my own doing, but I do not know what exactly I have to fix!
I have gotten to where the server itself can run, and I've gotten to where I can access the "website" to register, and I can also access "pwAdmin". However, the features relating to making accounts (and then editing them, I guess) aren't working for me, because it seems I've somehow made it to get "Connection to MySQL Database Failed" on everything related to the MySQL.
Just in case it helps: My host computer is Windows 7, and I'm running Ubuntu server with Virtualbox (I'm new to virtual machines as well. But...I've learned the past couple of days)
This has been the one thing I just can't figure out where I've gone wrong. If anyone can point me to the right direction, I will happily search for the solution. But again, I don't know what's wrong to fix
--Edit--
I figure I've either done the networking wrong, or I somehow have copied the files wrong, leading to a lack of the MySQL database. If someone knows what I did wrong, I'd be appreciative.
Oh, and also: Is this in the wrong section? I suppose it might be. If my trouble is with the installation of 343's files, should I have posted this in 343's thread instead?![]()

no you can get help with the 343 setup too. there are only a few files to edit, make sure you have done so. also table.xml HAS to be set up properly with the password.
Thank you; I had solved it a few days ago. I had assumed I could keep the passwords as defaults, but I had to change them all for some reason. I guess one of the files somewhere had a different password. All is working A-OK! Thank you for your reply, though

First of all, thank you for putting this together Psytrac, especially for using 343's release as the base. Unfortunately, there is one issue...the client links you provided, point to v621 now.
I do happen to have the original Genesis installer laying around so I'll just use it and then patch it to 606. Others might not be so lucky though. (If I can ever figure out how to host a torrent, I can share it. Seems like no matter how I try that it doesn't work though, and I can't figure it out for the life of me.)
I've been running 343's release for a while. I sucks only having 2GB of ram on this system, but I just manually load maps as I need them. (not a big deal since there's only 5 of us on the server.) Looks like I may have to do some figuring on how to load more maps with this, or load and unload them via the command line on the server itself. Would love to get a real server, but can't afford it financially atm.
Yes, unfortunately right now any extra $100 I have are going into other means. In the past two months I've lost a Video card, a hard drive, and a power supply to my main system. Parts got pulled from the server to keep my PC alive, and they are slowly getting replaced. Not to mention my job is sucking right now and income is low, while outgoing money is high. As soon as I am able, I will definitely be contacting you regarding decent specs for something to put in my rack.![]()
I understand, and no problem man. Right now I do not have an extra dime to my name either, as I just did another brand new gaming build for myself
Do you have about $45 though, depending on where you live for the shipping charges??? I just took a quick look and found THIS: SUN SunFire V20Z Server | 2x 2.6GHz Opteron | 16gb PC-3200 | CD-ROM | eBay ; which (at least for me) would be about $45 including shippingI must also add that, those are wonderful machines! I have an entire rack full of them (deals I caught from eBay just like that one)

Hey thanks for the link. I'll forward this to my financial adviser (a.k.a wife) and see what she thinks. Will run me about $52 with shipping.
Yay server arrived. unfortunately, it has no hard drives. I will have to check into those. Meanwhile I get to play around with the hardware setup.
Sorry, I thought you would have noticed no drives. Servers of a 'commercial grade' usually do not come (used) with drives for obvious data security reasons... I will get you links to the proper HDDs for that unit. You're going to be looking for SCSI Ultra 320 HDD's
So long as the drives you get have this SCA 80 pin connectors

You can then get 2 blank trays like these:
Sun SunFire V40z V20z SCSI Hard Drive Tray / Caddy S01655 - Grade "A" | eBay
And grab drives like these to add to those trays:
HP 36.4GB 10K RPM Ultra320 U320 SCSI Hard drive 300955-014 | eBay
Here ya go, these drives here would be the best bang for your buck...! They are SCSI u320 drives with a 146 GB capacity and a spindle speed of 15,000 RPM (and I actually found two for ya):
+ Fujitsu Limited 146GB 15K-RPM Ultra320 SCSI HDD Hard Disk Drive MBA3147NC | eBay
