gshopedit exception error - am i missing something simple?

I'm new, spent all night searching forums for anyone with a similar problem. We got 1.4.4 server up and running fairly easily, and started messing around. Noticed a problem with shop items 'boutique does not have this item', searched here and saw the problem was most likely with time stamps or some other inconsistency in the client and server .data files...

ok, next step fire up gshopedit...oops...exception error...tried a couple versions of the editor, including latest (far as i know), and all the same...am i too tired and missing something? does gshopeditor have to be executed from a certain directory? am i missing resources somewhere? i can't even get the shop editor to start so i can do some real damage lol

1.4.4. needs gshop and gshopsev files

and they have to be correctly time-stamped. which is why you are getting that error

Which tool you using?

I only get exception errors using sGSHOPedit. so I'm betting that one personally

um..yes i know the server needs those files, my question is why am i getting an exception error with gshopedit.exe...the server runs fine, it was just giving the 'the boutique does not have this item' message, which i researched here and discovered that it had to do with the ghop and gshopsev files being inconsistent...but i can't correct the ghop.data etc unless the editor works. The immediate problem was fixed however by copying the server side files over to the client and renaming them. However,, gshopedit still does not work on my laptop, but it does work on my bro's desktop.

BaSH's editor works well, and hasn't given me any errors yet. might wanna give that one a try
