Does anyone know how to make the music/BGM work on a 1.4.2 client? When I install it there's just 3 files in the Music folder and those are just the themes, and I tried putting files in there and renaming them to adc etc but they don't seem to work.

Not too sure what you mean, but if you are looking to extract the audio from the PWi 1.4.2 client; all music is stored in OGG, or MP3 format (to my knowledge/memory) inside sfx.pck
...is this on a private server or official you're asking about?
Would help to know what client you're talking about as well, PWI or PW-MY or other...
See perfect world international\element\music\ambiencestereo for instance, has alllllll sorts of sound files in it on PWI... Is that similar to what you're looking for? Other than that i'm not sure. That's the only folder of "music" that I know of in a 1.4.x client that is absolutely readily accessible. Hope it helps.

Yeah, Romulan is right. I have the 1.4.2 client, downgraded for hrace's server, and when I go to /element/music, there's only 3 files in there. I'm kinda noob, and I used to change the music in older clients by replacing the files named 'adc' and '1k' and so on that were in that folder, but now I can't find them anywhere. There's just 3 files, theme_a, b and c.
You're missing a folder. "ambiencestereo" folder should be in there as well. I haven't checked the files inside there specifically for what they sound like but it's a ton of sound/music files. I have downgraded client for the server i'm working on as well and mine is there. Might you have deleted it by accident or something?Originally Posted by Exodus
i've changed music in clients myself, but not in this version (yet). There should not only be theme_a theme_b and theme_c but a folder labeled ambiencestereo.

Nope the folder is there, but the files in there are for background effects, wind etc. I have tried to use that folder for music but it doesn't work.

Also, now that I think about it, as far as I know the themes are the only music i've ever really heard in my client (pre-change)... it doesn't just play at login screen but also in towns occasionally.
In order to change out music files you need to make sure it looks exactly the same as the theme_x including properties of it, if I recall. Make sure in the folder there's no excess information like band name or all that and that the genre and album remain with the same information tacked on that the original "theme" would have. I'm not positive because i've not changed music in a while in PW but, that should help if you haven't done that already.

You must unpack the sfx.pck oO .........
And the files are in .OGG format ....
Nevermind about 1.4.2 client, when i changed my musics it was on a 1.3.6 client
