ok i have one pc setup with virtualbox and trying to setup another pc with another virtual box setup. both using same local network. how to configure so they both work? i know they have different ips but same local..anyway to configure so if i restart one it wont restart the other?
what i mean is i have vbox installed on both pcs.. ones hosting the server.. the other is one i want for testing. how to setup the 2nd one.. instead of having one vbox and changing the ips.. i'd like to have one vbox on each pc.. so it cuts the lack of cpu usage.. i have tried to set it up.. it still uses same local ip as the first.. anyway to go around this? if so how?
The magic word here is "ports"
you can run as many servers you want even in one box as long as you give them unique ports.

yeah i figured it out.. had to go edit etc/interface or soemthing like that with the ips i wanted vbox to use.. then change the conf files. took me a bit of reading about linux to understand.. and then also made my swap file bigger.
Well... you can run 65536 different servers because of ports (since you can only use 0-65535)
no becuase each server uses around 50 different ports internally for the game daemons to connect to each other.
eg gdeliveryd has a port, gauthd has a port, each map has its own port, gamedbd... etc etc
you will need to change them all.
