    Client Error

One of my new players is having trouble getting her client running. After clicking start on the patcher she gets this error:

Does anyone know what this means? I did try using OCR software to get the text and translate it but it didn't copy the text correctly.

She is the only person having this trouble.

Well that is because it is very obviously not Chinese characters... (I... not even going to go there)

It is what happens to Chinese character encoding when Windows tries to read it was ASCII or UTF-8

That error is usually do to one of the packs being put together wrong, but usually there would be at the very least a "blah.pck" somewhere in that garbled mess. You did say it was after a patch so that is my best guess.

    Re: Client Error

I know it's not chinese, I was going to use notepad ++ to display the chinese after getting the text from the image. She is the only one with this problem so far out of 80 downloads.

I will tell her to reinstall and see if that helps her any, although I think she already did a system restore. Could a lack of system resources have an effect on this? Just seems weird that she is the only one getting this problem.

    Thanks for the quick response

you need spy++ or similar software on the computer of that player, then select the window and copy-paste the text into a text file. have the user send you the file and then open it with notepad++ with chinese setting. be sure that the user uses windows notepad to save it, or otherwise the encoding will fail.

i suggest using teamviewer for this

Eh almost forgot, in most cases this message just says the client is unable to load some data. have the player send the logs folder to you and examine the messages, especially AF.log and EC.log.

You don't need any program: click the error box, press ctrl + C, open a text file, press ctrl + V, voila (works with any standard error message box on windows).

Then decode scrambled text with simplified chinese with notepad++ and use google translate
