hi all i feel like im going round the bend with what i think is a stupid noobie mistake so i have to admit defeat and ask. every time i create a new id in the elements.data file server side it crashes the server on start up no matter what i put in it allways crashes luckly i carry a back up lol has anyone had this prob an knew what went wrong. thanks in advance
Have you added the custom id to client side as well? :) If I'm not mistaken, think you need both for it to work properly, and I'm assuming here you're new to this. What were you trying to add?Originally Posted by hmscore

2. Check if the ID u want to add doesnt exist
About number 2....
I remember back when I first started adding things and didn't check for that and all it did was act like that ID wasn't there (both of them and anything referencing to it was also ignored)
Never got a flat out crash though...
bad ID's in gshop though... that got a crash
well that depends on what u have double... The basic elements.data allready has double IDs...but some items cause crashs =)
Makes you wonder why a lot of game companies don't just use SQLite for information storage such as that... it is afterall a completely free (as in public domain) and has existed for all of eternity... would provide better abilities at handling of all that though...
hey all thanks for your fast responces ill break down what i do i go into my server elements file with seledit add a new id i.e a weapon i made i use a id that is not in use at least i cant see it being used then when i save it shut all down then restart my world map doesnt start the /gs (map service) so i never have a chance to go to client side to see if that crashes hope that helps UPDATE.... i fixed it thanks to all that threw there suggestions out
