one thing to note on Death Protection. You can add or change the description there but it wont change the item not to drop this is done in the ELdata of the item.

on weapons its line 211 for items with description like yers similar to rank 8 the number will be 16403
for other items it will be 64

for armor its line 191 and 180 for ornaments. Same numbers if you set to 0 they dont auto soulbind or have the features simlar to rank gear.i
