    wink gfx files

    Hey guys,

I have unpacked the models.pck and gfx.pck from PWI so that I can get the Silver Constellation wings on my server.

I have successfully copied them from the PWI models.pck into mine, repacked it and the wings do show up on my server.

The problem is that they do not flap or have any sparkly stuff lol. I believe this is because I have not copied any gfx from pwi to my gfx.

Is the right way to do this to open up the ecm of the wings in models.pck and find the paths to the gfx files in gfx.pck and then copy the required gfx files from PWI to my clients gfx.pck?

I'm pretty sure it is but.............
    I has a problem

When I open the ecm of the wings the paths to the gfx.pck show up in weird characters not chinese like you would expect.

    Spoiler:

Use notepad++ and use GBK (simplified chinese) charset.

Yeah, so I like looked up Chinese language packs on the microsoft website and apparently I have to be running Windows 7 Ultimate not just Home Premium to be able to get multiple language packs.

    FU MICROSOFT!

Guess I'll have to find a free version somewhere on the web....

btw if anyone knows wheres a good place to find one, want to point me in the right direction?

    AH HA!

Ignore that post, discovered notepad++ has a nifty button for switching it to a chinese char set.

    Thanks Romulan

I'm still having the same problem about the wings not flapping and lacking sparkly stuff :S

I have unpacked models.pck from pwi and added the wings into my clients models.pck

I have opened the .ecm files in the models.pck with notepad, opened the directories to the gfx.pck and put them into my clients gfx.pck.

I have done nothing with sMODfix, is there something that I need to do with this?

I'm kinda stumped on this :S

    Re: gfx files

I guess sMODfix can't fix the "not flapping wingz", it needs to be done manualy. Unfortunatly Idk how to do that. I just know it's something to do with "BaseActName" or "CombineActName" in the ECM file.

You can use my actfix to fix that. If its not working send the ecm to me and i fix it. Then i add the fix to my actfix and you can use for all flights!

Not true... Like you see he posted ecm file and there you can keep any moxt you want... just depends on what exe you use... if you use 1.3.1 ok you need to change but not if you use 1.3.4/1.3.6 exe...

If he tried to make an ecm from any other game working he need to fix the actnames...

fix/downgrade the ecm and the related gfx files

And ah so how do I do that? Will sMOD do that? Or actfix? So I put the ecm and gfx files into my clients files and then downgrade them with sMOD? I will try that when I get back to my computer in like 2 hours. Or do I first need to fix them with act fix and then sMOD?

    Re: gfx files

Before all, makes backup of the file! Then try with sMODfix. If it doesn't work, delete the file, copy the backup and try with actfix.

If still no result, gives your ECM to Eistiger He helped me alot for fixing my genies animation xD

    Re: gfx files

    • extract models.pck & gfx.pck
    • load root directory of extracted folders in sMODfix
    • select an output directory
    • filter ecm >1.3.6
      click fix
    • filter gfx >1.3.6
      click fix
    • filter sgc >1.3.6
      click fix
    • close sMODfix
    • merge the output directory with the source directory and overwrite all files with the downgraded files
    • repack models.pck & gfx.pck

i don't know actfix, but author said it is for fitting act-names from games different then pw, if your stuff is from pw you don't need change act-names...

    Facepalm

    I'm such an idiot sometimes....
I did try sMODfix yesterday and it didn't work. But after reading your post I realised I actually only filtered ecm lol.

Well I will give that a go soon filtering them all

    Re: gfx files

    Ok so what I did:

Unpacked the PWI gfx.pck and models.pck files.
Fixed ecm gfx and sgc with sMODfix
Merged the fixed files with the previously unpacked PWI files
    Repacked the files
Put them into my client and started it

    This is the result
    Imageshack - 20110615120732.png
As you can see the model.pck for the wings seems to have worked but messed up the characters stance. The gfx hasn't worked at all, even taking out a lot of the gfx that was previously working, notice the lack of gfx on the bow but the hell fairy gfx is still fine.

Unless I understood what ronny said to do wrong, I'm rather confused.

I also tried unpacking pwi fixing it and merging it with the downgraded client gfx and models, that didn't work at all.

I also tried manually taking the ecm and other files from the pwi models.pck and putting them in my clients models.pck. This resulted in the model for the wings working and no weird character stance but no flapping animation on the wings or gfx sparkly stuff on them

Edit: And I also have tried not using sMODfix at all and coping the model.pck files from pwi to mine, opening the ecm, checking for the gfx.pck paths, adding them to my clients gfx and that seems to get the model for the wings but no animation or effects on them

EditEdit: Actually rather than fixing the pwi gfx.pck and models.pck I will try putting the required files for the wings into my clients gfx and models and then fixing that NOT the PWI version of gfx and models....

    I will post the results

Oh yeah and sorry about the double post

    EditEditEdit :P

    I got it working!
Thanks to everyone that helped me with this

I will post how I did it for future reference:
Extract PWI models.pck and gfx.pck with sPCK
Extract your servers models.pck and gfx.pck with sPCK
Check the paths to the ecm for the item you are adding with sELedit
Copy the whole folder the ecm is in to your servers extracted models.pck
Open the ecm and check the paths to the gfx files
Copy the gfx files to your servers extracted gfx.pck
sMODfix the gfx and models files that you have made (your servers orig ones with pwi data added in)
Merge the output of sMODfix with your modified servers models.pck.files and gfx.pck.files overwriting when prompted
Repack the merged files and replace them to your client.

    Anddddddddddddd it should work :P

Thanks again to everyone who replied to this thread

maybe that you don't need to change the first line, but fixing a file and not changing the MOXTVersion to the new state is bad engineering...

i strongly recommend to change it so everyone knows the real content of the file

omg i just reduced the post to the basic information because the lines between can be implied/are unnecessary...

so i assume the file is unfixed and the content of the file is version 54
1.3.6 client only support ecm content up to version 32

this version (MOXTVersion: 54) is not supported and need to be fixed
i never said that the first line in the file need to be fixed, i implied that the first line told me the file content is version 54

    Re: gfx files

Ronny, what Eistiger try to explain is the version is just a suite of numbers and nothing else. It won't have any effects on the game and no matter what the version is. It can be even MOXTversion: 99

The only thing that have an impact on the game is the parameters inside the file. Like "AutoUpdata" and other things like that.

    @Eisi
Correct me if I'm wrong x)

EDIT: Err... you guys were too fast to answer xD
