    [Help] Map swapping/port in editing

OK I am wanting to change the current map being used for Nirvana to use the 109 Hell map. I am not familiar with using sMap tool if this is even needed for what I want. I have tried simply copy/pasting files from 109 map to nirvy folder and this doesn't work, obviously because the teleport is sending to a non existent location. Also nirvy is currently set to an open instance and I would like it to be more like an fb, and for this I'm guessing gs.conf but again unsure. Any help or pointers in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: Have determined that the teleport that currently takes me to Nirvy is somewhere in region, which I'm some already know, so now it's a matter of figuring where and what and how to edit this. Also not sure how to export it to server side as notepad++ seems to only open client side and be understandable. "goes back to digging" Might have to change something in tasks also?.....

Use sMAPtools to export region.clt to region.sev, btw you need several things to make a new map...

    On server side:
    Edit gs.conf and gsalias.conf

    On client side:
Copy the correct loddata and litmodels folder for the map you want to clone.
Copy the map folder and rename everywhere you see a26 to aXX (what you want).
Copy again the files from the a26 folder to the aXX. Unless you know how to hex edit the different files to make it working without doing this procedure.
Add the new map in the instance.txt inside configs.pck

Now it should work... And you just need to make a teleport to that map.

Ok I will look into this at a later time as it is way past time for sleep. As far as the teleport there is already one present so guessing I would have to edit where it points. Thanks for the tips Romulan, will post back after I give this a go.

Awesome thanks for all the info, guess the next thing is to brush up on by search words variables as what I searched for didn't yield any helpful info.

OK 343 this aimed at you as this is your easter egg lol. Behind the Faction Supervisor is a invisible teleport to Nirvana, or at least it looks like it. I have gotten it to work if I use the Illusion Stone to get into my new Nirvana map, however I can't figure out where to edit the invisible teleport as it still puts me in underneath the new map. That being the case I am wondering if the 2 Are actually the same place or is one open and the other instanced? Again many thanks on all the help thus far, and I know I a bad bad man for modding your release lol, I was wanting to get it more towards the official Nirvy.

Re: [Help] Map swapping/port in editing

    Remove this in maps\world\region.clt
    Code:
    [trans]
    205 1 0
    1854.582000, 221.226000, 1158.800000
    4.000000, 2.000000, 1.000000
    -298.000000, 289.000000, -105.000000
Export it to region.sev for the server with sMAPtools!

Re: [Help] Map swapping/port in editing

@ Romulan if I'm not mistaken that would remove that hidden teleport, I would just like to redirect it to the proper place, as well as make Nirvana instanced not open. I have gotten it to transport me to the correct place with the Illusion Stone and modified the region.clt, however I can't figure out how to convert it with sMap for server side. I have played with it a little but haven't been able to accomplish that task. But thank you for pointing out which area of region needed modified.

Well, that's not nirvana in my release. b05 is the 'house' so yes, when you 'walk into the building' behind the faction supervisor it ports you into 'house'

If you have changed b05 to nirvana, then you will want to do as Rom said -- remove the section he listed, the:

    [trans]
    201 1 0

    section...

I'm not entirely sure what you're saying you're wanting to do here... But if you want to scrap 'house' for nirvana you should remove the world region [trans] zone as described above... or at least change the co-ords to the proper entrance point (so you're not entering nerdvana behind the faction supervisor...

Re: [Help] Map swapping/port in editing

OK kind of lost then because whether you enter through the Illusion Stone to Nirvana or behind the Faction supervisor, they both take you to the same place with your release and that is where the Nirvana bosses are. My objective was to switch the map to a cloned fb109 hell map to bring it closer to the official Nirvana. I have been able to switch it and get into the new map through the Illusion stone however when going behind supervisor it puts me under that map. As stated above to adjust that I would have to modify said lines in region.clt and export to sev. So the only thing I have not been able to do at this point is export to sev(not enough playing with sMap) and make it instanced. Unfortunately this will have to wait for later as I am leaving for the holiday weekend shortly, but thank you both for all the help, and looking forward to your next release 343.

Re: [Help] Map swapping/port in editing

My personal recommendation would be to leave the instance b05 alone (and the teleport behind the faction sup. NPC)... Clone the map you desire (fb109 hell), and create a whole new instance off of it... Then ofc part of that would be adding however you want to be able to get into that map, whether it be tasks.data (like the illusion stone, or an NPC) or the region [trans] zone...

I've never messed with the illusion stone, so if that erroneously takes you to the 'house' map (when it says it's taking you to 'nirvana') all you have to do is add your 'clone' map as I've stated above, and change the data in tasks.data for the illusion stone quest which takes you to your new 'nirvana'...

I forgot there were mobs in my b05 (that's how it was when I received it), but yes, I left them there... If you do it the way of my recommendation then you can just use a blank NPCGEN for b05 (or of course create your own, or 'eventually' create your own)...

so, all in all, really -- I think that would be your best bet...

Thanks yet again for the advice 343 that actually sounds more ideal as I could then use b05 for something else. Props yet again to you 343.

Hopefully I can push out my release 'update' by the time you're back from the holiday weekend. Have a beer for me though, I don't think I will be having any 'fun' time until I get THIS done - holiday weekend or not =\ !

Ah man sorry to hear that, but ya gotta take a break at least for a little, I personally would understand a slight delay due to this weekend. Anyway best of luck and happy Labor Day to all that celebrate it.
